Filed 1/27, stuck in errors dept with no explanation - Should I get a Tax Advocate?
Filed almost 2 months ago and my transcript hasnt updated at all. No verification letters nothing. Called IRS and they just said im in errors department but wont tell me why. Everyone I know already got their refund. They said wait 9 weeks but what happens after that? Getting really worried my tax preparer messed something up. Should I get a tax advocate now or keep waiting?

The errors department doesnt necessarily mean your preparer made a mistake. There are many reasons returns get flagged - identity verification, income matching issues, or automated system checks. After 9 weeks, if theres no movement, definitely contact a Tax Advocate. They can help push things along if youre experiencing financial hardship.

Thanks for explaining! Do you know how long it usually takes once it leaves the errors department?

It varies but typically 2-3 weeks after they resolve whatever flagged it. But honestly its impossible to know exactly without seeing your transcript details.

Instead of playing detective trying to figure out whats wrong, you should try taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on and when to expect your refund. Its only $1 and way better than trying to piece together clues from different sources. https://taxr.ai

Does it actually work? Sounds too good to be true tbh 🤔

Yes! It basically uses AI to read your transcript and explain everything in plain English. Saved me hours of stress and googling

Get a tax advocate NOW! I waited the 9 weeks like a 🤡 and nothing happened. Called advocate and they found out there was a simple verification issue that couldve been fixed weeks ago.

Did you have to prove hardship to get an advocate?

The IRS is such a joke fr. They expect us to wait months while bills pile up but if we owe them they want their money yesterday 🙄

Check your wage and income transcript if you can access it. Sometimes employers mess up W2 reporting which can throw you into errors.
