Filed 1/23 with refund advance - stuck in review status. What's happening?

Filed my taxes back in January with a tax prep place and got the advance loan. My transcripts arent updating and my tax preparer just told me its in review. Anyone know what this actually means or how long this could take? Getting worried since its been over a month.

Tax specialist here - for refund advance situations where you're stuck in review, there's usually a few key things happening. The IRS is likely comparing your W2 info with what your employer reported, and checking if the advance amount matches what you're actually due. These reviews typically take 2-4 weeks longer than standard processing. I'd highly recommend checking out taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) - it's this new AI tool that analyzes your specific documents and gives you a really clear timeline of what's happening and when you can expect movement. It's been super helpful for my clients in similar situations to understand exactly where they are in the process.

Tax pro here - Review usually means the IRS is verifying something on your return. Could be income, dependents, or credits. Unfortunately theres no set timeline, but typically these reviews take 45-120 days. Best thing to do is keep checking your transcripts weekly.

120 days?! 😭 thats insane...do you know if having the advance loan affects anything?

The advance loan itself doesnt affect processing time, its just a separate transaction with the tax prep company

Hey I was in the same boat last year - what helped me was using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It costs $4.99 but it tells you exactly whats causing delays and when to expect your refund. Way better than guessing or getting vague answers from the IRS. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

100% legit! It showed me I had a verification hold and predicted my exact DDD within 2 days. Best $5 I spent during tax season fr fr

Check your wage and income transcript. If theres any discrepancy between what your employer reported and what you filed, that could trigger a review.

Did you claim EIC or child tax credit? Those always get extra scrutiny
