Missing code 806 on transcript and blank wage records. Filed in early March, accepted right away - still nothing
I filed my 2024 taxes on March 5th and got the acceptance confirmation almost immediately. It's now been 9 weeks with absolutely no updates. I checked my transcript and there's no 806 code showing up at all. My wage transcripts are completely blank even though I had both W2 and 1099-NEC income. The Where's My Refund tool still shows processing. Has anyone else experienced this? I was expecting about $2,400 back and really need it for some urgent car repairs. Called IRS twice but kept getting disconnected after being on hold for hours.

Tax expert here. The 806 code indicates that they processed your withholding credits from your W2s and 1099s. The absence of this code plus blank wage transcripts suggests the IRS hasn't processed or possibly even received your income documents from employers yet. This is concerning since you filed in early March. You have several options: 1. Verify with your employers that they actually submitted your W2/1099 forms correctly to the IRS 2. Request your Wage and Income transcript through the IRS website to confirm what the IRS actually has on file 3. Contact the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service if this continues beyond 10 weeks 4. Check if you received any notices by mail about missing information Unfortunately, this appears to be a document matching issue where the IRS systems aren't correlating your tax return with your reported income documents. This can significantly delay refunds.

•Thanks for the detailed explanation! I did confirm with my employers that they submitted everything on time. I'm at 9 weeks now so I'll give it one more week before contacting the Taxpayer Advocate.

•Is it possible the return got flagged for ID theft protection? That happened to me last year and my transcript looked exactly like this for weeks.

•That's definitely a possibility. If it's an ID verification hold, you might get a 5071C letter in the mail asking you to verify your identity through ID.me or by calling a specific number.

•This happened to me too!! I finally got the 806 code to show up after like 11 weeks. Just stay patient, the IRS is slower than molasses in winter.

I was literally going crazy trying to figure out what all these transcript codes mean! I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained everything in plain English. It showed me exactly what was going on with my return and when I should expect my refund. No more guessing or digging through pages of IRS jargon. Seriously, it was game changing for me! https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•OMG it does way more than just read the transcript! It analyzes everything, shows you what each code means, gives you a timeline for your refund, explains any delays or issues, and even tells you what to do next. I was completely lost before using it - now I actually understand what's happening with my taxes! 100% worth it.

•I totally get the skepticism! I was the same way. But yes, it absolutely delivers. I wasted HOURS trying to decipher my transcript before finding this. It's not magic - it won't make the IRS move faster - but at least you'll understand exactly what's happening and have clear expectations. Changed my whole tax season experience tbh.

I finally got through to a real person at the IRS after trying for weeks! Used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me a callback from an agent without having to wait on hold forever. The agent explained that my employers' forms weren't properly matched to my return yet, but they expedited the process after I called. My refund was released within days after talking to them. Best money I ever spent after banging my head against the wall for 2 months!

•Wait so this actually works? I've been trying to get through to the IRS for like 3 weeks and keep getting disconnected 😤

•Yeah it actually does. I was super skeptical too but was desperate. They basically navigate the phone system for you and hold your place in line, then call you when an agent is available. Saved me hours of that horrible hold music lol

•sounds like another scammy service... why should I trust this?

•I get it, I was suspicious too. But they don't ask for any personal tax info - they just help you navigate the phone system. Once the IRS calls you back, you're talking directly with the IRS, not some third party. Honestly after 8 failed attempts to reach someone, I was willing to try anything.

•I can confirm it works. talking to an actual IRS agent got my refund unstuck after 3 months in limbo. Found out there was a simple error code that nobody bothered to tell me about 🤦♂️

Had the exact same problem! Filed February 15, accepted same day, but no 806 code and no wage transcripts. Finally called the IRS after 12 weeks and turns out my employer filed my W2 under the wrong SSN. Check with your employers - sometimes they make simple errors that cause huge delays.

The IRS is such a joke this year 🤡 I filed in February and FINALLY got my refund last week. No explanation for the delay, no notices, nothing. The system is completely broken.

•Facts! They're still using computers from the stone age and expect us to wait patiently while they take our money instantly but drag their feet giving refunds 🙄

•They're understaffed and overworked tbh. I know someone who works there and they're drowning in returns with outdated systems.

•Understaffed or not, their communication is terrible. A simple automated email saying "we're still working on it" would be better than radio silence for 3 months.

Ok so I had this EXACT problem last year. The thing is - if your wage transcript is blank, the IRS doesn't have your W2/1099 info on file yet. That means they can't verify your income/withholding and won't process your refund until they can match up all the docs. In my case, my employer filed an extension for submitting W2s and didn't tell any employees. You might wanna check if that happened to you too.

Yuki Sato
•That's really helpful insight. I'll definitely ask my employer about this. Do employers have to notify employees if they file an extension for W2 submissions?
0 coins
Ava Rodriguez
•Technically no, they don't have to notify employees. But it's super frustrating when they don't! They still have to give YOU your W2 by Jan 31, but they can get extensions for submitting to the IRS. In my case, they gave me my copy but didn't send the IRS their copy until March. It was a mess.

Went through something similar and found out there was a mismatch between the name on my tax return and the name on my social security card (I got married and changed my name but didn't update SS). Might be worth checking if there are any discrepancies like that in your case.

Same boat... filed electronically end of February, got accepted right away, but no updates since then. Transcript shows nothing but N/A everywhere. Called IRS multiple times but can never get through. This is ridiculous 😡

•Have you tried checking your transcript at different times of day? Mine was stuck showing N/A for weeks, then suddenly updated after midnight on a Friday.

•Good tip! I'll try that. Been checking mostly during daytime hours.

If your refund is $2400 you might be subject to additional review. Anything over $2000 often triggers extra verification especially if you claimed certain credits. Don't panic though - it usually just means a slightly longer wait time.

•I didn't know that! I did claim the Child Tax Credit for my daughter, so maybe that's part of it. Thanks for the info.

•Yeah the CTC definitely adds another layer of verification. The IRS is super careful with fraud prevention on those credits. It's annoying but ultimately protects everyone from identity theft.

Have you tried using the taxr.ai tool? I was completely lost trying to understand my transcript until I used it. It highlighted exactly why my refund was delayed (missing W2 info) and gave me the exact steps to fix it. Literally saved me weeks of stress and confusion. https://taxr.ai

•I was skeptical too but yeah, it works incredibly well. It basically translates the IRS jargon into plain English and gives you a clear timeline and action plan. Turns out I had a simple issue that would've taken forever to figure out on my own.

In addition to checking with employers, you should also verify that your Social Security number is correct on all your documents. One wrong digit and your whole return gets stuck in limbo.

The IRS is beyond useless this year. I have the same issue - filed in January, accepted immediately, but zero movement since then. Called them using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and finally reached someone who said there was a "random review" flag on my account with no estimated completion date. So basically "we'll get to it when we get to it" 🙄 At least knowing why it was delayed helped me adjust my expectations.

•what's that claimyr thing? another IRS scam?

Amina Bah
•Not a scam! It's just a service that navigates the IRS phone system for you and gets you a callback instead of waiting on hold for hours. You still talk directly to the IRS, they just handle the wait time part. After trying to call 6 times and getting disconnected each time, this was the only way I actually got through.

I worked at H&R Block for 7 years and this is SUPER common this time of year. What's happening is that your return is sitting in the IRS's verification queue. Without the 806 code, they haven't processed your withholding yet. It's frustrating but usually resolves itself within 12 weeks if there are no actual issues with your return.

Same issue here!!! Filed February 22nd, accepted same day, and NOTHING since then. No codes, no updates, nada. Called like 5 times and always get disconnected. The IRS website is useless - just says "still processing" which tells me absolutely nothing. I'm about ready to drive to an IRS office and camp out until someone helps me!

This happened to me because I had moved states and there was a mismatch between my old address on my W2 and my new address on my tax return. The system flagged it as potentially suspicious. Call the IRS (I know it's a pain) but it's the only way to resolve it quickly.

I was dealing with almost the exact same issue - filed early March, accepted immediately, but my transcript was stuck showing nothing for weeks. Used taxr.ai to analyze it and found out I had a specific code buried in there that meant my return was selected for review because of a mismatch with my W2. I wouldn't have even known what to look for without that tool. Check it out if you're still stuck: https://taxr.ai

If you really need the money soon, call the Taxpayer Advocate Service directly (877-777-4778). They can help if you're experiencing financial hardship due to the delay. They have more power to push things through than regular IRS agents.

Definitely reach out to an actual IRS agent through Claimyr (claimyr.com) - saved me tons of time and frustration. Found out my employer had filed my W2 incorrectly which was causing the entire delay. Once I got that fixed, my refund was processed within a week. Talking to a real person made all the difference instead of just guessing what might be wrong.

I'm going through something very similar! Filed in late February, accepted immediately, but my transcript has been stuck showing N/A for everything for over 10 weeks now. No 806 code, blank wage transcripts, the whole mess. What's really frustrating is that I've confirmed with both my employers that they submitted all the forms correctly and on time. I've been checking my transcript obsessively (probably not healthy lol) and calling the IRS repeatedly but keep getting disconnected after hours on hold. The "Where's My Refund" tool is completely useless - just keeps saying "still processing" with no timeline or explanation. I'm expecting about $1,800 back and really needed it for some unexpected medical bills. It's so stressful not knowing if there's an actual problem or if it's just sitting in some digital pile somewhere. Has anyone found a way to get real answers about what's causing these delays? At this point I'd pay someone just to tell me what's actually happening with my return!

•I totally feel your frustration Sofia! I'm dealing with almost the exact same situation - filed in early March, accepted right away, but nothing since then. It's maddening when you need that money and have no idea what's happening. I've seen several people mention services like taxr.ai and Claimyr in this thread that might help us get some actual answers instead of just sitting in the dark wondering. The stress of not knowing is honestly worse than just waiting would be if we knew there wasn't a problem!

I'm in the exact same boat! Filed March 8th, accepted immediately, and now it's been 10 weeks with absolutely nothing. No 806 code, completely blank wage transcripts, and the "Where's My Refund" tool just mocks me with "still processing." I'm expecting around $3,100 back and desperately need it for some home repairs after a pipe burst last month. What's really driving me crazy is that I've called my employer multiple times and they confirmed they submitted everything correctly and on time. I've tried calling the IRS probably 15 times but either get disconnected after hours of hold music or the system just hangs up on me when I finally get through the automated maze. I've been reading through all these comments and it sounds like there might be some tools or services that could help figure out what's actually going on. Has anyone here actually tried the taxr.ai thing that keeps getting mentioned? At this point I'm willing to try anything to get some real answers instead of just sitting here wondering if my return disappeared into some digital black hole. The worst part is not knowing if there's an actual problem that needs fixing or if it's just going to magically appear one day. The uncertainty is killing me!
