IRS claims check sent twice but never received - Need direct contact number
My refund check has supposedly been mailed out twice according to the IRS but I haven't received either one. The first time was 3 months ago and they said they sent another one last month. Starting to get really worried because this is a lot of money. The Where's My Refund tool is useless and I'm getting nowhere with the general IRS number. Does anyone know a better number to call or what to do in this situation?

You need to call the IRS refund trace department at 800-829-1954. Make sure to have your tax return info ready. They can put a trace on both checks and if neither was cashed, they'll issue a new one. The process usually takes about 6 weeks. Also file Form 3911 (Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund) to get the process started.

•Yep, went through this exact nightmare last year. Took about 2 months but finally got my check after filing the 3911.

Instead of playing detective trying to piece together whats happening, I'd recommend using taxr.ai - its only $1 and it reads your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on and what to do next. Saved me hours of research and stress https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! Used it myself and it explained everything going on with my transcript. Even told me exactly when to expect my refund

Make sure your address is correct on your tax return! I had the same issue and realized I had moved and forgot to update my address with the IRS.

The IRS is seriously broken rn. Took me 8 months to get my refund last year and had to contact my congressman to finally get it sorted.

•Google your district's representative, they all have taxpayer advocate forms on their websites

Pro tip: Keep checking your transcript daily on the IRS website. Sometimes they send checks but the system shows delayed updates. Mine randomly showed up even tho the system said it wasnt sent yet lol
