IRS accepted but not approved tax return - what's the holdup?
Hey everyone, I filed my taxes a while back and they were accepted, but still not approved. I've already verified my identity and everything. Anyone else dealing with this? Any ideas on what could be holding things up?

Have you gotten any letters from the IRS? Sometimes they send notices if theres an issue with your return.

•Nope, haven't received anything in the mail. That's why I'm so confused 🤔

Ugh, same boat here. Filed in February and still waiting. The IRS is such a mess this year 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. Used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

•Sounds kinda sketchy. You sure it's legit?

•Yeah, I was skeptical at first too. But it worked for me and saved me hours of hold time. Just sharing what helped me out 🤷♂️

•How long did it take to get through?

•It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with the IRS for years: 1. Be patient. Sometimes it can take months for them to process returns, especially if there's any discrepancy. 2. Double-check your return for errors. Even small mistakes can cause delays. 3. If you e-filed, check the IRS2Go app or "Where's My Refund?" tool on the IRS website for updates. 4. If it's been more than 21 days since you e-filed (or 6 weeks for paper filing), you can try calling the IRS directly. 5. Consider setting up an online account on the IRS website. Sometimes you can see more detailed info there. 6. If you're really worried, you might want to contact a tax professional or the Taxpayer Advocate Service. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP.

Have you tried sacrificing a goat to the tax gods? I hear that speeds up the process 🐐🔮

Serious question - has anyone else noticed that returns with EIC or other credits seem to take longer? Or is it just me?

•Yep, I've heard that too. I think they scrutinize those returns more closely.

Pro tip: If you owe them money, they'll find you real quick. But if they owe you? Prepare to wait until the heat death of the universe 🙃
