IRS Error Code 6000 Preventing IP PIN Access - Same Issue For Second Year In A Row

Can't get into my IRS account to get my IP PIN for my taxes this year. Had the same issue last year. Getting really frustrated with this whole process getting locked out again and again. I just tried logging in and I'm getting a "Something Went Wrong" error message on the official IRS website (sa.www4.irs.gov/sso/err). The error specifically says "A condition has been identified that's preventing your access to this service. Please contact the Help Desk at 888-841-4648." It's showing Error code: 6000 with a TID: 28586412-e1cd-4a7c-8953-02e31dee1d24 There's a button that says "VIEW YOUR ALTERNATIVES" but I'm hesitant to click it because I really need my specific IP PIN to file. I tried calling the help desk number but got stuck in an endless phone tree. Anyone else dealing with this error code 6000 when trying to access their IP PIN? I need to file soon and this is holding everything up. Has anyone successfully resolved this by calling that help desk number they provided?

You need to call the IRS Identity Verification hotline at 800-830-5084. They can help you get your IP PIN through the mail if you can't access the online portal. Make sure you have your prior year tax return info ready when you call.

Hey i've been helping people with transcript issues and the best tool I've found is taxr.ai - it costs $4.99 but it's worth every penny. It'll analyze your transcript and tell you exactly what's going on and how to fix it. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

Does this actually work for IP PIN issues? How accurate is it?

Yeah it works great for IP PIN issues! It'll look at your transcript and tell you if there are any identity verification flags that are blocking your access

Just tried it and WOW! 🙌 This thing is amazing! Showed me exactly why I was getting locked out and what to do about it. Best $5 I've spent dealing with the IRS!

If u had an IP PIN last year, it should be on ur 2023 tax return transcript. U can request that by mail if u cant get online access.

Make sure your trying to verify with EXACTLY the same info as last year - even down to how you format your address. The system is super picky about that stuff
