Filed March 2025 MFJ w/2 kids - Transcript shows acceptance but no updates. Need help understanding delays

I filed at the end of March with my wife and 2 dependents. My tax preparer confirmed the IRS accepted the return but my transcript isnt showing any movement. Already verified through ID.me so identity verification shouldnt be the issue. Can someone help me understand whats going on with my refund?

Without seeing your actual transcript its hard to give specific advice, but there are several common reasons for delays after acceptance. The IRS might be reviewing credits claimed, verifying income, or checking for identity theft markers. Have you checked your Where's My Refund tool for any specific messages?

Yeah thats pretty typical these days. The tool is basically useless for anything beyond basic status updates

Hey! I was in the same boat and was going crazy trying to figure out what was happening. Someone here recommended taxr.ai and it was a game changer. For $1 it analyzed my transcript and told me exactly why I was delayed and when to expect movement. Way better than trying to piece together random codes and dates. Here's the link if interested: https://taxr.ai

Here's what you need to know about 2025 processing delays (tax pro here): - The IRS is experiencing significant backlogs - Returns with credits often face additional review - Identity verification can happen even with ID.me - Many returns are getting pulled for manual review Your best bet is to either wait it out or use something like taxr.ai to get a detailed analysis of your situation. Manual research can take hours and still leave you confused. Keep checking your transcript weekly for updates. If you hit 120 days with no movement, call the IRS directly.
