Filed in January, IRS shows no return filed - Anyone else stuck in limbo?

Filed my taxes back in January and the WMR tool still shows no return filed. Called IRS and they just keep telling me to wait it out. Really need this money and feeling frustrated. Anyone else dealing with this or know what's going on?

Finally received my refund check after months of waiting - just sharing timeline

After waiting forever my refund check finally showed up in my mailbox today. The WMR showed it was mailed out last Friday and it took 5 days to arrive. Such a relief to finally have this resolved after all the stress and waiting!

Direct deposit is the way to go next time bestie! Much faster than paper checks

TC 291 on transcript - IRS rep gave conflicting info about offset vs. identity verification

Just got off the phone with the IRS and im more confused than ever. The rep kept going back and forth about a TC 291 code and saying something about an offset but then referred me to identity verification? Makes no sense because even if i did owe from last year it wouldnt be my whole amended return amount. Anyone know what TC 291 actually means?

in the same boat bestie. been waiting 8 months on amended return and getting different answers every time i call ๐Ÿ˜ญ

8 months? rookie numbers ๐Ÿ˜ค try 14 months here

For real tho identity verification is actually a huge holdup rn. If they referred you there might be worth checking just to rule it out

but why would they mention offset then? makes no sense

sometimes they have to clear identity before they can even tell if theres an offset. its stupid but thats how they operate

Hacked IRS2Go App Shows Vulgar Message About 5 Dependents - Fake Topic 152 Notice with February 19 Hold Date

I was checking my refund status on IRS2Go and got this really aggressive and unprofessional message about my dependents. The app showed "Refund Status" with three headers labeled "Received," "Approved," and "Sent." But then under these headers, the app displayed this shocking message saying: "Please stop checking for your refund bitch!!! You check every 15 minutes, and you do this shit every year! Every year we tell you the same thing but you hard headed as hell. You have 5 kids on this goddamn tax return! We aren't sending you shit until after February 19 because we wanna know how the hell you got all these goddamn dependents in the first place. Stop having kids bitch and stop checking this damn refund before we audit your ass!" Below this extremely unprofessional message, it went back to normal IRS formatting with: "Please read the following information related to your tax situation: Tax Topic 152, Refund Information" and added "Please Note: For refund information, please continue to check here, or visit the Refunds page on IRS.gov. Updates to refund status are..." This seems completely off for an official IRS message - has anyone else received something like this? I'm worried my IRS2Go app might be compromised or hacked because this doesn't seem like legitimate government communication at all. The app is still showing the official IRS2Go branding at the top, and the "Return Refund" sections appear normal, but then it goes into this bizarre hostile message about my dependents. The contrast between the standard IRS format at the bottom mentioning Tax Topic 152 and the completely unprofessional language in the middle makes me think something is seriously wrong.

The real IRS messages are boring af. This is obvs fake but ngl kinda wish they were this straight up sometimes ๐Ÿ‘€

Delete that app and download the real one from IRS.gov. Lots of scam versions floating around rn trying to steal info

TurboTax auto-deductions from bank statements with 1099 - Did it mess up my return?

I connected my bank account to TurboTax for my 1099 filing and it automatically pulled expenses for deductions. Now im worried it took too many deductions it shouldnt have. Already submitted but something feels off about how it processed everything. Really hoping they reject it if theres issues cause I dont want IRS problems later.

The automatic import feature is trash tbh. Always manually review expenses. Your better off doing it yourself or hiring someone next time

Most important thing is to stay calm and handle it proactively. Download your return PDF from TurboTax and review Schedule C line by line. Make a list of questionable deductions. Consider using taxr.ai to analyze your situation - its seriously helpful for catching potential audit triggers. Then file an amended return if needed. Better to fix it now than deal with IRS notices later. I've helped dozens of clients through similar situations. The key is catching and correcting issues before the IRS does. The automatic import feature is convenient but needs human oversight.

whats the typical turnaround on amended returns?

0 coins

Usually 16-20 weeks for amended returns to process, but worth it to avoid bigger headaches later
