Filed 2/8 - Stuck in 40 day hold with no verification needed - Anyone else?
My return has been sitting with zero movement since Feb 8th when it was received. Just got off the phone with IRS and they said im in a 40 day hold period. No verification needed and no notices being sent - just waiting. Really frustrating since they cant tell me why. Anyone else dealing with this?

This is actually pretty common right now. The 40-day review is an automated process where the IRS systems check for potential identity theft, income verification, and credit eligibility. Most returns clear this without any action needed from the taxpayer. Keep checking your transcript every few days for updates.

•Thanks for explaining! Do you know if this means I'll definitely have to wait the full 40 days?

•Not necessarily. I've seen some clear in as little as 2 weeks. But yeah, no way to know for sure unfortunately 🤷♂️

Hey guys instead of playing detective with your transcript, try taxr.ai - its literally changed how I track my refund. Cost me a buck but the AI reads your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on and when to expect updates. Way better than guessing https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How accurate is it? Like does it just read the codes or what?

•Its crazy accurate! It analyzes everything - codes, dates, amounts, even predicts cycle dates. Saved me hours of googling transcript codes lol

Anyone else notice how they always say "40 days" but never explain WHY? Like what are they even reviewing for this long smh

Protip: If you're worried about the hold, call the Taxpayer Advocate Service. Sometimes they can help push it through faster if you're experiencing financial hardship. Worth a shot!
