Filed 2/11, Accepted 2/12 - No WMR Movement & No Pending Deposits with Credits

No WMR movement and no pending deposits šŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒ I filed 2/11 and was accepted 2/12. I have credits and I used H&R Block šŸ˜© I need this money for property taxes due next month! Why is nothing happening?? It's been over 6 weeks now and I'm stressing out!

Have you checked your tax transcript yet? Sometimes the Where's My Refund tool doesn't update properly, but your transcript might show more details. Could it be possible that you claimed credits that trigger additional review? The PATH Act often delays refunds with certain credits until mid-February at minimum, but we're well past that now, aren't we?

I'm in the same boat, filed on February 9th and accepted February 10th. Nothing on WMR except the first bar, and no pending deposits as of April 1st. Did you receive any letters from the IRS requesting additional information? My concern is whether this means we're being audited or if it's just normal processing delays.

Have you tried calling the IRS directly? I was stuck in the same situation and wasted THREE DAYS trying to get through their phone system. Finally used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in 20 minutes. Found out my return was held up because they needed to verify my income - something they never bothered to tell me! Do you have time to wait on hold all day or do you need answers now with those property taxes coming due?

According to the IRS website, returns with credits like the Child Tax Credit or Earned Income Credit typically take longer to process. The official processing time is 21 days, but I've seen many posts here showing it's taking 45+ days this year. You can check the IRS2Go app which sometimes shows updates before the website. IRS.gov/refunds also has more detailed information about processing times.

I've seen this pattern a lot this season. There are several possible explanations: ā€¢ Your return might be in manual review (common with credits) ā€¢ Identity verification might be needed ā€¢ H&R Block transmission delay (happens more than people think) ā€¢ Simple backlog at IRS processing centers I'd suggest using taxr.ai to analyze your transcript once you can access it. It decodes all those cryptic codes and gives you a much clearer picture of what's happening with your return than the WMR tool ever will. I'm skeptical of most tax tools, but this one actually explains what each code means for YOUR specific situation.

Does anyone know if calling the IRS actually helps speed things up? I need my refund ASAP for bills and I'm about to lose my mind waiting!

I called the IRS after waiting 8 weeks with no movement. First, check your transcript online if possible. Next, call early morning (7:00 AM) using the 1-800-829-1040 number. Press 1 for English, then 2, then 1, then 3, then 2, then don't enter anything when asked for SSN, then 2, then 4. This got me to a person who told me my return needed identity verification. Fixed it that day and got my refund 10 days later. Did you get any letters from them?

Wow, I never realized there was a specific sequence of buttons to press! Thanks for sharing this. I've been filing taxes for 15 years and the system seems to get more complicated every year.

I experienced the exact same situation last year. According to Internal Revenue Manual 21.4.1, returns claiming refundable credits are subject to additional verification procedures. I waited 9 weeks with no updates, then suddenly received my refund with no prior notification. The IRS is not required to provide status updates during this verification process per Treasury Regulation 301.6402-2. If you haven't received a CP05 notice requesting additional information, your return is likely just in the verification queue.

Same here. No movement. No updates. Nothing. Filed in February. Still waiting. So frustrating. Called twice. No help. Just told to wait. Hate this process.

Be careful w/ checking WMR too often! The IRS system sometimes flags accts w/ too many login attempts as potential fraud. I've seen ppl get locked out completely for 24-48 hrs. Better to check once a day max. Also, if you claimed CTC or EIC, those returns are def taking longer this yr due to verification procedures. Might wanna check ur bank acct directly instead of WMR - sometimes $ shows up before WMR updates.

What you're experiencing is likely related to the PATH Act verification process. When taxpayers claim certain refundable credits like the Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS is required by law to perform additional verification steps before releasing refunds. This typically creates a processing delay that can extend 45-60 days beyond the standard 21-day timeframe. The absence of movement on Where's My Refund is actually quite normal during this extended verification period.

This happened to me last year with my EITC claim. No updates for 8 weeks, then suddenly my transcript updated on a Friday and I had my refund the following Wednesday. The waiting is terrible, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong.

Man, the IRS really needs to work on their communication! šŸ˜‚ Would it kill them to just add a "we're still checking your stuff" status instead of leaving us in the dark for months? Thanks for explaining this so clearly!

I tracked exactly 52 days from acceptance to deposit last year with EITC. The transcript updated at day 49 with an 846 code dated 3 days later. The pattern seems consistent with verification procedures taking 7-8 weeks for credit-claiming returns.

I might be able to offer some possibly relevant insight based on my experience. I filed on February 10th, was accepted on February 11th, and had a similar situation with credits. My WMR showed no movement for approximately 7 weeks, then suddenly updated to approved. The deposit appeared in my account 5 days later. In my case, it seems the IRS was simply processing a large backlog of returns, particularly those with credits that require additional verification under the PATH Act provisions.

I had a similar experience but with TurboTax instead of H&R Block. Waited about 8 weeks total compared to previous years when I got my refund in 2-3 weeks. Makes me wonder if different tax preparation software affects processing times.

Did your transcript show any codes before you received your refund? I'm trying to understand if there's a specific sequence of codes that indicates progress through the verification system.
