Where's My Refund Not Moving - Filed 2/12 with TurboTax - Anyone Else Stuck?

Anyone else in the same boat? Filed through TurboTax on February 12th, got accepted same day, and literally NOTHING has happened since then. WMR still on first bar, SBTPG shows nothing. It's been over 6 weeks! I check both sites multiple times a day and it's driving me insane. Who else is stuck in this limbo with me?

Mary Bates

You're definitely not alone. There's a significant backlog this tax season. The IRS is experiencing processing delays, especially for returns filed in February. Many taxpayers who filed around the same time are reporting similar issues. Have you checked your tax transcript? That sometimes shows updates before WMR does.

Did you claim any credits like the Earned Income Credit or Child Tax Credit? Those automatically get extra scrutiny and can delay processing by weeks.

Yeah, I claimed both EIC and CTC. But even with those, shouldn't there be SOME movement after 6+ weeks? Last year I had my refund in 21 days with the same credits.

Unfortunately, it's taking much longer this year. The IRS changed some verification procedures for those credits. I've seen people waiting 8-10 weeks with no updates, then suddenly getting their refund.

I was in the exact same situation (filed 2/11, accepted same day). My transcript was completely empty until last week. I tried https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript once it finally updated - it explained all the codes and gave me a predicted refund date that was actually accurate. Saved me from having to decipher all those confusing IRS codes myself. Might be worth checking your transcript and running it through there when it does update.

I filed 2/13, accepted same day, and just got my deposit yesterday. No movement on WMR the entire time - still shows first bar even now! But my bank account shows the deposit. Sometimes the systems don't update properly even when things are moving behind the scenes.

Same boat, filed 2/10. Called the IRS yesterday after trying for THREE DAYS straight and getting nowhere. Finally used Claimyr.com to get through (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and spoke to an agent in about 15 minutes. Found out my return is just in normal processing, no flags or holds. Agent said they're just overwhelmed with returns this year and many February filers are experiencing delays. At least I know nothing's wrong now.

Was it worth paying for Claimyr? I've been thinking about calling but heard the wait times are insane.

100% worth it. I wasted hours trying to call directly before giving up. With Claimyr I was talking to an actual human in minutes instead of days. Just having confirmation that nothing's wrong with my return gave me peace of mind.

The IRS is severely understaffed this year and processing is taking forever. My tax preparer said they're seeing 45-60 day waits for even simple returns. It sucks but it's happening to tons of people.

Check your account transcript on the IRS website. WMR is notoriously unreliable and sometimes never updates even after your refund is sent. I've seen people get deposits while WMR still shows "Return Received" status.

I tried getting my transcript but the site keeps giving me an error. Might try again tomorrow.
