Filed 2/18 - IRS Says 'Wait 10 Weeks' - WMR Shows Amount But No TT, Transcripts N/A
I'm seriously starting to worry now š« Filed and accepted on 2/18. Just called the IRS for the THIRD time this morning and I'm still getting the same answer - 'you're still processing, allow the full 10 weeks.' The agent said I should have my refund OR a letter by then. I need this money for home repairs before summer hits! WMR shows my refund amount but no tax topic. Transcripts still showing N/A for 2024. I'm trying to stay calm but it's been over 6 weeks already! Anyone else stuck in this limbo? I check WMR and transcripts literally every morning hoping for a change.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this stress! According to the IRS2Go app and the official IRS processing guidelines at irs.gov/refunds, this year has been particularly slow for many filers. The lack of tax topic but showing your refund amount usually means you're still in the review queue. The N/A transcript is actually somewhat normal at this stage - it typically means your return is in the processing pipeline but hasn't completed the verification stage. š I know waiting is absolutely awful when you need the funds.

Is it normal that WMR shows the amount but no tax topic? I filed 2/20 and mine looks exactly the same. No transcript available either. Called twice and got the same 'wait 10 weeks' response.

I had this exact same situation last year. Filed on February 22, 2023 and had to wait until April 30, 2023 before I got my refund. Called multiple times between March 15, 2023 and April 20, 2023 and kept getting the same response about waiting the full 10 weeks. It's frustrating but sometimes they really do take the full time.

Look, calling the regular IRS number is basically a waste of time right now. The agents you reach that way are just reading scripts off their screens. I've been through this before and finally discovered Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com). They get you through to an actual IRS agent who can see your full file - not just the basic status. Costs a bit but saved me from the endless redial game. They connected me in about 15 minutes when I'd spent days trying on my own. The agent I reached was able to tell me exactly why my return was delayed and what to expect next.

I'm in the same boat. Filed 2/15. Accepted same day. WMR shows amount only. No tax topics. Transcripts still N/A. Called three times. Got the same answer. Wait 10 weeks. It's frustrating. I check daily too. Hoping for movement soon. Hang in there.

Based on exactly 1,246 posts I've analyzed on this subreddit since January, your situation follows the pattern of returns that are in manual review but not necessarily audited. When you finally get your transcript, you'll need to understand what the codes mean. I recommend using taxr.ai to analyze it - it explained that my 570 code was just a temporary hold and predicted my deposit date within 24 hours of accuracy. The system can read all those transcript codes and tell you exactly what's happening with your return and when to expect resolution. Saved me from making unnecessary calls to the IRS.

Be careful about assuming everything is fine just because they tell you to wait. Unlike what happened with my brother's return last year, which had the exact same symptoms (amount showing but no TT, N/A transcript), he ended up getting a verification letter at week 9 that required him to send in additional documentation. The IRS representatives almost never tell you if there's a pending verification until it's already been mailed. If I were you, I'd start gathering your supporting documents now just in case.

This is exactly what happened to me last year! I filed on February 15th, 2023 and didn't get my refund until April 28th, 2023. Called multiple times and kept getting the "wait 10 weeks" speech. By week 8 I was panicking because I needed the money urgently for a plumbing emergency. Suddenly on week 9, my transcript updated and the refund appeared 3 days later with no explanation for the delay. Time is running out though - you need to stay on top of this!

Your tax return is like a package stuck in customs - it's in the system but waiting for an officer to clear it. I had the exact situation last year where my transcript showed N/A for 8 weeks straight. Then one Tuesday morning, everything updated at once - transcript appeared with codes 150, 570, 571, and 846 all on the same day. It was like the IRS had been holding my return in a separate system until they finished their review. My direct deposit hit my account exactly 8 days after the transcript first appeared.

ā¢ When the transcript finally appeared, did you get any explanation for the delay? ā¢ Did you receive any notices in the mail? ā¢ Was your refund amount the same as expected? ā¢ How long total from filing to deposit?

I'm curious about the code sequence you mentioned. Did you see a 570 (refund hold) and 571 (release) on the same day? That's unusual in my experience. Usually there's at least a weekly cycle between those codes. Did you have any credits on your return that might have triggered PATH Act review?

Your return is likely in the Integrity Verification Operation (IVO) department. This is a pre-refund compliance check that doesn't necessarily mean audit. The IRS uses predictive analytics to flag returns for manual verification based on multiple factors. The absence of transcript data coupled with WMR showing the amount indicates your return passed initial validation but requires secondary review. I recommend requesting an Account Transcript rather than a Return Transcript - sometimes the Account Transcript will update first with Transaction Codes that provide insight into processing status.

I've been through this exact nightmare before. Filed February 2022, and the IRS held my refund with no explanation. Transcript showed N/A for months. I finally received a letter in late April requesting verification of my identity. The frustrating part? The IRS knew they needed verification in early March but didn't send the letter for 6 weeks! By the time I verified, completed the additional steps, and finally got my refund, it was mid-June. The lesson I learned was that "still processing" often means "we need something from you but haven't told you yet." Check your mailbox religiously and maybe even sign up for informed delivery from USPS.

Could you please clarify what the verification letter looked like? Was it a 5071C letter? 4883C? Something else? This information could be critical for the OP if they receive something similar and need to act quickly!

I got one of those verification letters last year and it sent me into a panic because I needed my refund for emergency car repairs. Called the number on the letter and verified my identity, but it still took another 3 weeks after that before I got my refund. The whole process took almost 3 months from filing to refund. š

These identity verification letters are becoming more common than a bad cold in winter! š The IRS has increased identity verification measures by about 300% since 2019. If you do get one, don't panic - about 85% of people who verify promptly get their refunds within 21 days after verification. I'm slightly worried that with the current processing backlogs, that timeline might stretch though.
