Credit Karma Tax Filers with Direct Deposit Date of 3/22 - Check In Thread
Just wanted to create a check-in thread for those of us who filed through Credit Karma and got a Direct Deposit Date of March 22nd. According to TurboTax's refund tracker (https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/refund-status/) most people receive their refunds 1-2 days before the official DDD, but I've seen mixed results on Reddit. I run a small digital marketing agency and filed on February 15th, accepted same day. Transcripts showed processing for about 3 weeks before I got the DDD. Anyone else in the same boat? Has your deposit hit yet? Let's share updates here!

I filed on February 10th and also got the March 22nd DDD. My transcript updated last Friday (March 15th). In previous years, I've typically received my deposit exactly one day before the official date, so I'm expecting it tomorrow (March 21st). The IRS seems to be processing returns a bit slower this year compared to the 2022 and 2023 filing seasons.

Thanks for sharing this timeline! It's like having a GPS for the refund journey when others share their experiences. I've been tracking mine like a hawk and this gives me a better idea of what to expect.

I might be jumping the gun here, but I think I found something that might help us all. I was getting frustrated with the vague WMR messages, so I tried https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It actually explained all those confusing codes and gave me a pretty accurate prediction of when my refund would hit. I'm *pretty sure* my bank will post it tomorrow based on their analysis, even though my official DDD is the 22nd. It helped me understand the whole cycle better than the IRS site did.

I've been filing taxes for over 15 years and I'm skeptical of these third-party tools. Back in 2019, I used something similar that completely misinterpreted my transcript. How accurate has this been for previous years? Do they just read the same codes we can see ourselves?

I filed exactly 32 days ago and got the same March 22nd DDD! Just checked my account 20 minutes ago and the full amount ($3,742) just posted to my Chase account! Seems like they're releasing funds early. My transcript had code 846 with the 3/22 date, but it came through today instead.

That's interesting - which bank do you use? I've noticed in past years that some banks like Chime and Capital One tend to release the funds as soon as they receive the ACH, while others like Wells Fargo often hold until the actual date on the payment.

This matches the Automated Clearing House (ACH) processing schedule. Financial institutions receive the payment instruction file approximately 1-2 business days before the effective settlement date. Some banks post immediately upon receipt of the file while others adhere strictly to the settlement date indicated in the ACH metadata.

Did you have any tax credits on your return? Per Publication 17, returns with certain credits like EITC or ACTC may follow different deposit timelines even with the same DDD.

For those wondering about the timing, it's important to note that there are typically three waves of direct deposits each week. The IRS generally initiates payments on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, though your bank's processing time may affect when you actually see the funds. Credit Karma filers seem to be following the standard pattern this year, with most DDDs falling on Wednesdays and Fridays. Your financial institution's policies regarding pending deposits will ultimately determine whether you get it early or on the exact DDD.

After waiting for what felt like FOREVER, I finally got some answers: • Filed: February 7th • Processing message for weeks • Called IRS multiple times with no luck • Used Claimyr.com to get through • Spoke to an agent within 30 minutes • Found out my return was selected for random review • Got my DDD during the call If you're still waiting and WMR isn't updating, definitely worth calling. The Claimyr service saved me hours of redial attempts.

Just wanted to share my exact timeline for anyone else checking this thread: 2/12 - Filed thru Credit Karma 2/12 - Accepted (got email confirmation) 2/28 - WMR updated to approved 3/02 - Transcript updated with 846 code and 3/22 DDD 3/21 - Deposit hit my USAA acct this AM FYI - I've noticed USAA and Navy Federal tend to post tax refunds early. My brother has Chase and he's still waiting despite having same DDD.

Do you think having state tax refund selected for direct deposit affects the federal timing at all? I chose DD for federal but paper check for state, wondering if that slows things down?

I'm seeing a similar pattern with online banks versus traditional ones. Last year I had Chime and got my refund 2 days early, this year I switched to a local credit union and they seem to be holding it until the exact date.

Credit Karma filers seem to be getting processed in batches. First batch was early February filers. Second batch was mid-February. Most getting DDDs 30-35 days after acceptance. Path Act returns take longer. Check cycle codes on transcripts. Code 20221105 means Friday update cycle. Code 20221104 means Thursday. Different banks release funds differently. Some hold until actual date. Others release early.

Could you clarify what you mean by Path Act returns? Is that for people claiming certain credits?

For those who might not know, Credit Karma Tax is now part of Cash App Taxes. I was initially confused because I filed through Credit Karma last year but had to use Cash App this year. The systems are integrated now, but the refund processing seems to follow the same patterns as previous years when it was separate.
