Code 420 on 2022 transcript - Can't amend 2023 until 2022 processes. Help!

Code 420 means your return is under review. The IRS selected your return for examination/audit. You should have received a CP05 notice in the mail explaining what additional information they need. Until this is resolved, your 2022 return will remain in limbo and yes, it will affect your ability to amend 2023.

My tax person said 420 reviews can take 120 days or more. Its basically audit lite. They're probably verifying income or something. Just gotta wait it out unfortunately
