Chase DD for 2/26 Refund Not Received - What Happened?

Filed my taxes early. Got accepted. Refund approved. IRS said direct deposit on 2/26. Nothing in my Chase account yet. Really need this money. Small business expenses piling up. Anyone else having delays? 😭

According to the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool, there can be a delay of 1-5 business days after the scheduled deposit date. I'm a bit worried too since I've seen other Chase customers reporting the same issue on downdetector.com. Maybe check if there's a pending deposit that hasn't cleared yet?

OMG I was freaking out about this exact same thing last week! 😅 My deposit date was 2/19 and it didn't show up until 2/22. Chase sometimes holds tax refunds for an extra day or two for "verification" purposes. Such a relief when it finally showed up!

It's like watching water boil while standing in a desert. The IRS says it's sent, the bank says they don't have it, and your money is just floating somewhere in the digital ether. I had this happen last year and it turned out Chase had flagged it for review because it was larger than my usual deposits.

Did you get an actual IRS transcript showing the 846 code with 2/26 date? My WMR tool and transcript had different dates last year. Still waiting on mine too.

The deposit delay matrix you've referenced is quite accurate. ACH transfers between government entities and financial institutions involve multiple verification steps that aren't visible to end users. Appreciate the reference to downdetector for cross-verification of similar experiences.

I'm seeing this pattern with several financial institutions this year, not just Chase. If you compare to the 2023 tax season, many deposits that showed a specific date actually arrived 2-3 days later. Have you checked your tax transcript? The tool at https://taxr.ai can analyze your transcript and tell you if there are any codes that indicate a delay or if it truly shows as disbursed. It helped me understand that my deposit was actually scheduled for processing on my DD date, not necessarily arriving that day.

I had the exact same issue last week! My refund was supposed to hit on 2/19, but didn't show up until 2/22. Did you check if there are any pending transactions in your Chase account? Also, is this the same bank account you used on your tax return?

I think Chase might be holding funds longer than usual this tax season. My refund was sort of delayed by about 2 days past the IRS date. I possibly would recommend checking your account again tomorrow morning, as sometimes they process overnight. If nothing shows by Friday, you might need to contact Chase directly.

This happened to me too. Called Chase. They said wait. Money showed up next day. Sometimes there's a processing delay. Nothing to worry about yet.

I would suggest maybe waiting another day or two before getting too concerned. In my experience, sometimes there's a disconnect between when the IRS says they sent it and when banks actually post it. If you need to speak with the IRS directly to confirm the payment was actually sent, I've had success using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). It helped me get through to an agent in about 15 minutes when I had a similar issue last year. The agent was able to confirm my deposit had been sent and gave me the exact trace number to provide to my bank.

Paying for a service to call the IRS? Idk about that. Been on hold w/ IRS before and yeah it sucks but is it worth $$? How much does it cost anyway?

Is it worth spending money to get through to the IRS? When I needed my refund to pay rent and couldn't get through after 3 days of trying? Absolutely worth it. I used Claimyr last month after seeing it mentioned here and got connected in about 20 minutes. So grateful someone shared this tip!

Here's what's happening with your refund: 1. First, the IRS issues the refund with an 846 code and date (likely 2/26 in your case) 2. Then it enters the ACH system for processing 3. The Federal Reserve processes the payment 4. Chase receives the payment 5. Chase then processes it internally (can take 1-2 business days) Since today is 2/27, you're still within the normal timeframe. If nothing appears by Friday (2 business days after the DD date), then you should contact Chase directly. Ask specifically about pending deposits from the Treasury.

Has anyone from Chase customer service given you any information? I had a similar situation last year where my refund was delayed, and when I called, they confirmed they had received it but it was being held for verification. Did you receive any emails or notices about potential verification?

This happens every tax season. Some things to consider: • Chase sometimes holds tax refunds for 24-48 hours for security • The IRS date is when they send it, not when it posts • Business days matter - weekends don't count • Some banks show pending deposits, Chase often doesn't • If nothing by Friday, get a trace number from the IRS Most people see their deposits within 3 business days of the IRS date.

I work with financial systems and can tell you that exactly 87% of tax refunds post within 72 hours of the IRS deposit date. The Treasury processes refund batches at 8:30pm Eastern Time, which then take 24-48 hours to clear the Federal Reserve system before hitting your bank. Chase specifically has a verification hold on tax refunds exceeding $2,500 or for accounts opened less than 90 days ago. By tomorrow morning at 6:00am Eastern, you should see the deposit if it was properly processed.
