Has anyone who filed and was accepted on 1/23 received their direct deposit yet?
I'm wondering if perhaps anyone else who filed their taxes on opening day (January 23rd) and received acceptance confirmation has actually gotten their refund via direct deposit yet? It seems like I might be experiencing a longer wait than I anticipated. I provided all my banking information correctly, double-checked all my documents, and made sure everything was properly reported from my small business income. This is probably just normal processing time, but I'm somewhat concerned since in previous years my refund typically arrived within about 2-3 weeks after acceptance. Anyone else in a similar situation or perhaps received theirs already?

OMG I'm in the EXACT same boat! Filed and accepted on 1/23, and STILL nothing in my account! I check WMR every morning and it's been stuck on "received" forever. So frustrating when you see people who filed WEEKS after getting their money already! According to the IRS website, most refunds should process within 21 days, but clearly that's not happening for everyone. I called yesterday and after waiting forever, they just told me it's "still processing" with no explanation why. 😡

I'm experiencing the same issue and I'm concerned about what this means for my financial planning. Last year I filed on January 28th and had my refund by February 12th. This year I filed on January 23rd and my transcript still shows no updates beyond acceptance. The processing path seems to have changed this year based on what I'm seeing. Many early filers appear to be experiencing delays while some who filed in mid-February are reporting faster processing times.

When you called, did they mention if there was any specific hold on your return? Or just the generic "still processing" message? I'm wondering if there's a way to determine if we're in some kind of review queue or if it's just normal backlog.

Thank you for sharing this information. I've been checking the IRS2Go app daily and was starting to worry something was wrong with my return. According to the IRS.gov website, they're experiencing higher than normal processing times for early filers this season. I appreciate knowing I'm not alone in this situation.

Have you checked your tax transcript for any processing codes? According to IRM 21.4.1.3, processing delays can occur when returns are selected for identity verification or income verification. The PATH Act (Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes) also requires the IRS to hold refunds involving certain credits until at least February 15th. Did you claim EITC or the Child Tax Credit on your return?

I'm also waiting on my refund after filing on January 24th. When I checked my transcript, I saw code 570 which apparently means there's some kind of hold. Is that something I should be worried about? My brother-in-law filed a week after me and already got his refund last Friday. I don't understand why mine is taking so long when I filed earlier.

Wow, I'm impressed with your knowledge of the IRM codes! I wasn't aware of the specific section that addresses processing delays. This is exactly the kind of technical information that helps make sense of what's happening behind the scenes at the IRS. Thank you for sharing this insight.

After waiting 35 days with no updates on WMR, I finally decided to call the IRS directly. Spent 3 hours trying to get through their phone tree before giving up. 😂 Then I found Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) which got me connected to an actual human at the IRS in about 15 minutes! Worth every penny because the agent confirmed my return was just in a verification queue and would be processed within the week. Sure enough, got my DD two days later! Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to get answers.

Is this service actually legitimate? I'm hesitant to use third-party services to contact a government agency. How much does it cost? Does it require personal information? I need my refund ASAP but I'm concerned about security issues.

I wonder if using a service like this actually makes a difference? Perhaps the return would have processed in the same timeframe regardless? Though I can certainly understand the peace of mind that comes from speaking with an actual representative rather than staring at the WMR tool day after day.

I appreciate you sharing this resource. It might be helpful for those of us who are possibly facing extended delays. While I'm generally patient with government processes, having a way to potentially get some clarity on the situation could be valuable if my return doesn't move forward in the next week or so.

I'm in the same situation with my 1040 submission from 1/23 and experiencing significant anxiety about the delay. My transcript shows Code 152 which indicates normal processing, but the 21-day processing window has clearly elapsed. The IRS Where's My Refund tool is still showing the first status bar with no updates. According to my calculation, we're now at day 37 since acceptance, which seems excessive even with the current backlog situation.

I filed exactly on January 23rd at 8:15am and received acceptance confirmation at 9:47am. My refund of $3,428 was deposited on February 13th, exactly 21 days after filing. I've noticed a pattern over the past 5 tax seasons where approximately 62% of early filers experience delays beyond the standard 21-day window, while those filing between February 7-21 often receive refunds faster (typically 14-17 days). This timing discrepancy has been consistent since 2020 and appears to be related to the IRS batch processing schedule rather than issues with individual returns.

I've been dealing with this exact issue for years now. Last year I filed on January 24th and didn't receive my refund until March 12th - almost 7 weeks later! The year before that was similar. I've learned that filing in the first wave almost guarantees a longer wait. The IRS claims 21 days for most refunds, but that's rarely true for early filers. They're overwhelmed with returns and their antiquated systems can't handle the volume. My strategy now is to either file mid-February or just expect a long wait if I file early.

Called IRS yesterday. They confirmed backlogs. Early filers experiencing delays. System prioritizing certain returns. No issues with your return. Just waiting in queue. Keep checking WMR. Transcript updates Friday nights. Patience required. System working through backlog now.

I filed January 23rd and got my direct deposit yesterday. Check your tax transcript - not WMR. My WMR never updated beyond the first bar, but my transcript showed code 846 with a deposit date five days before the money hit my account. If you're seeing cycle code ending in 05, that means your transcript updates on Thursdays/Fridays. If it ends in 02, it updates Mondays/Tuesdays.
