IRS Transcripts Blank and WMR App Showing "Information Does Not Match" Error for 2023 Return
My transcripts are completely blank and I was able to check Where's My Refund up until 2 weeks ago. Now WMR says my information doesn't match. I've been checking using the IRS2Go app and when I enter my information for tax year 2023, I keep getting a "Refund Status Error" message that says "Information does not match. Please reenter your information." I've triple-checked everything I'm entering, making sure it matches exactly what's on my tax return, but I keep getting this error. The app shows it only updates once every 24 hours, usually overnight, but I've been trying for days now with the same error. All fields are required, and I'm filling them all out correctly. Before this started happening, I could see my refund status just fine. Now not only are my transcripts completely blank when I log into the IRS website, but the IRS2Go app won't even recognize my information. I've tried using the "Get Status" button multiple times with no luck. Has anyone else experienced this? Does this mean they're processing my refund and that's why the system temporarily doesn't recognize my information? Or should I be worried that something went wrong with my return? I'm getting anxious since tax season is moving along and I was counting on that refund.

Hey there, I totally understand the frustration with blank transcripts and WMR issues. This is actually pretty common right now because the IRS is doing their annual system updates. They typically do maintenance and updates in January to prepare for the new tax season. Your transcripts and WMR will likely be unavailable or show blank info until late January. The good news is that this doesn't mean anything's wrong with your return - it's just a temporary system thing. If you want to get ahead of any potential issues and understand exactly what's happening with your return, I'd recommend checking out taxr.ai. It's this new AI tool that can analyze your tax docs and tell you what's actually going on, even during these system blackouts. It's been super helpful for a lot of people in the same boat. Just hang tight for a couple weeks - your transcript info should come back online by the end of January when the IRS finishes their updates.

Tax advocate here - this usually happens when your return is being processed in a different department or under review. The system temporarily removes access while updates are being made. Give it about 7-10 business days to see if it comes back online.

I've been helping people with transcript issues and the best way to actually understand what's happening is using taxr.ai - it costs $4.99 but its worth every penny. The AI reads your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and when to expect your refund. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

•sounds interesting... how accurate is it? does it actually predict DDDs?

•Super accurate! It looks at all your codes and gives you a specific timeline. It even tells you if there are any issues that could delay your refund

This is totally normal during this time of year! I went through the exact same thing last month - blank transcripts and WMR errors. The IRS does major system updates in January which causes these temporary blackouts. Your info should come back online by late January/early February. In the meantime, don't stress - this doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your return. The system just can't display your info while they're doing maintenance. I know it's frustrating when you're waiting on that refund money, but hang in there! 💪
