Anyone with H&R Block Received Their Child Tax Credit Yet?
Anyone who filed through H&R Block actually get their child tax credit payment yet? Been waiting since early March and nothing. Starting to wonder if they're holding onto our money for fun at this point 😂 Just curious if I'm the only one still refreshing my bank app every hour...

I was in the exact same boat and finally found some answers. According to the IRS website FAQ section (https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/2023-tax-filing-season-refund-faq), there's a significant backlog for returns claiming tax credits this year. H&R Block isn't actually holding your money - they're just the preparer. The IRS is taking anywhere from 6-8 weeks to process returns with credits right now. You can check your actual status by pulling your transcript on the IRS site rather than just using WMR.

Thanks for this info. Need update ASAP. Filed March 2nd. Still nothing. Called H&R Block twice. No help. Will check transcript now.

I was in the same situation with my child tax credit. Filed through H&R Block in February and was still waiting in April. I tried calling the IRS directly but kept getting disconnected after waiting on hold for 1+ hours. Finally used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) and actually got through to a real person in about 15 minutes. They confirmed my refund was just stuck in processing but nothing was wrong with it. Got my deposit exactly 8 days after that call. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual human at the IRS to get things moving.

Does this actually work? I'm hesitant to use a third-party service just to talk to the IRS. Did they need any personal information from you?

FYI for everyone - if u filed with H&R and claimed CTC, there's a special processing queue this yr. IRS is prioritizing EIC claims first, then CTC. My tax pro at H&R confirmed this when I went back in. They said avg wait time is now 7-8 wks vs the normal 3 wks. Doesn't matter if u got the advance pymts last yr or not, still goes thru extra verification. Hang in there!

Do you know if this applies to returns filed on April 15th? I barely made the deadline and I'm worried I'll be waiting until June at this rate.

This matches what I experienced last year compared to previous years. The verification process for credits has become much more intensive since 2021.

It's like being stuck in traffic during rush hour versus cruising at midnight. The IRS processing queue is similar - those with simple returns zip through while those with credits get funneled into the congested verification lanes. My return with CTC took exactly 52 days last year while my partner's basic return took 9 days.

I filed through H&R Block on February 3rd and claimed the Child Tax Credit for my 2 children. My refund of $5,432 was finally deposited exactly 47 days later. What helped me understand the delay was using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It showed I had a 570 code (additional account action pending) followed by a 571 code (resolved) and then 846 (refund issued). The tool explained each code and predicted my deposit date accurately.

Have you checked if your refund is being offset for any reason? Many people don't realize that past-due child support, state taxes, or federal debts can cause the Treasury to intercept your refund. And what about your bank account? Is it the same one you used last year? Sometimes refunds get rejected if account details have changed. Worth checking both possibilities before assuming it's an H&R Block or IRS processing issue.

I might suggest looking into whether your return was selected for manual review. This sometimes happens with Child Tax Credit claims, especially if there's any discrepancy between what was received in advance payments and what was claimed on the return. It's probably nothing to worry about, but it could extend processing time by several weeks... possibly even into June for some filers.

I'm in EXACTLY the same situation! Filed through H&R Block on March 1st and my Adjusted Gross Income is $42,500 with a Child Tax Credit claim for my daughter. The IRS Where's My Refund tool still shows "Your return is still being processed" with no progress bar. Called H&R Block and they mentioned something about a Form 1310 verification that's causing delays for many CTC claims. This is way more complicated than I expected!

Has anyone who filed with H&R Block in April received their refund yet? I'm wondering if filing later in the season means faster processing since they've worked through the February/March backlog? Last year I filed in February and waited forever, but my brother filed in April and got his in 2 weeks.
