TurboTax Fees Taken Out - Anyone With 2/22 DDD Get Their Deposit Yet?

Anybody file with TurboTax and have fees taken out with a DDD (direct deposit date) of 2/22 get a deposit yet? I feel like I'm playing the world's most boring lottery here lol. Been through this rodeo before but seems slower this year for some reason. Just curious if I'm the only one still refreshing my bank app every 20 minutes...

I'm in a similar situation. Filed with TurboTax on January 28th, got my DDD of 2/22 about a week ago. Had fees taken out for the deluxe version. My bank usually posts pending deposits a day early, but nothing yet... I'm trying not to worry since technically the money isn't "late" until after tomorrow. The IRS website says to allow until the end of the day on your DDD before contacting them.

Wait, so the DDD isn't actually when it hits ur account? Thought that was the whole point lol. TurboTax didn't explain any of this to me smh

The DDD is when the IRS releases the funds, but then it has to go through exactly 2-3 processing steps: First to TurboTax's bank partner (usually SBTPG or Republic Bank) who takes out their fees, then they release it to your bank, which may hold it 0-2 business days depending on their policies. This is why many people see deposits 1-3 days after their official DDD.

Does the WMR tool update once the payment has been sent to the tax preparer's bank? Or does it just stay on the DDD status indefinitely?

According to the IRS refund processing schedule on their website, 2/22 DDDs should be hitting accounts between today and Friday. TurboTax uses Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (SBTPG) as their processor, and they typically take 1-2 business days to process after receiving from IRS. I've been tracking my transcript with https://taxr.ai and it shows my refund is in the "bank processing" phase which means it's been released by IRS but is still moving through the banking system. The site predicted I'll see the deposit by tomorrow morning based on my specific codes.

ā€¢ Is this service actually reliable? ā€¢ Does it need access to your transcript or personal info? ā€¢ How accurate are these "predictions" really? ā€¢ Seems like they're just telling you what you could figure out yourself

Think of taxr.ai like a translator for those cryptic IRS codes. Did you try interpreting your transcript yourself? It's like reading hieroglyphics without a Rosetta Stone. How accurate have you found their timing predictions to be?

Check your SBTPG account!! I just logged into mine at https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com and it shows my refund was received from the IRS yesterday but is still processing. Last year I got my money about 36 hours after it showed up there. I'm dying waiting for this money to hit šŸ˜‚ rent is due Monday and I'm cutting it WAY too close haha!

February 22nd was only yesterday, so you're still within the normal timeframe. I've been tracking refund patterns since January 15th when filing opened, and TurboTax refunds with fees deducted typically take 24-48 hours after the DDD to appear in bank accounts. If you don't see anything by February 24th, that's when I'd recommend using Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) to get through to the IRS. They'll connect you to an agent who can verify if the payment was actually sent. I've seen several cases where the payment was sent but got held up at SBTPG or the receiving bank.

According to IRS Publication 2043 (section 4.2), the Direct Deposit Date is when the IRS releases the funds to the financial institution, not necessarily when you'll receive them. When fees are deducted, your refund follows this path: 1. IRS sends to SBTPG (TurboTax's bank) 2. SBTPG deducts TurboTax fees 3. SBTPG sends remaining amount to your bank 4. Your bank processes the deposit This process typically takes 1-3 business days after your DDD. I'd recommend checking your SBTPG account at taxpayer.sbtpg.com to see the current status.

Last year I was in exactly the same boat - filed with TurboTax, had fees taken out, and my DDD was Feb 24th. The money didn't hit my bank account until Feb 27th, which was 3 days later. The delay happens because your refund doesn't go directly from the IRS to your bank - it goes: IRS ā†’ SBTPG (TurboTax's bank) ā†’ Your bank. Each step can take 24-48 hours to process. I remember checking my account literally every hour and driving myself crazy! The technical term for this is a "Refund Transfer Product" and it's how TurboTax can deduct their fees directly from your refund instead of charging your credit card upfront.

Thanks for breaking this down so clearly! Makes me feel better knowing this delay is normal.

Is there any way to check the status with SBTPG directly? Do they have a tracking system or something?

Do credit unions process these faster than big banks? Wondering if that makes any difference.
