Anyone with NC SECU received their tax refund deposit yet?

Anyone with NC State Employees' Credit Union received a deposit yet? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I filed and paid the preparation fees upfront so I'm not waiting on SBTPG or any of that middleman nonsense. Nothing is coming out of my refund directly. Just waiting on the IRS to do their thing and send it straight to my account. I've seen some people say they got deposits last week with a DDD of 3/15. Driving for Uber has been slow lately so I'm refreshing my banking app like it's Twitter during a celebrity meltdown lol.

According to the IRS2Go app and the refund status tracker at irs.gov/refunds, direct deposits are typically issued within 21 days of acceptance for straightforward returns. Credit unions like SECU often post deposits as soon as they receive them, sometimes even 1-2 days before the official deposit date. The current processing batch shows that returns accepted in late February with no complex credits are being deposited this week, with the next major wave coming next Wednesday/Thursday based on the standard processing schedule.

Is this like how grocery stores get shipments on certain days? Like the IRS has specific days they process batches of refunds rather than doing them continuously? I've always wondered if there's a method to their madness or if it's just whenever they get to your return in the pile.

I'm with SECU too and I'm getting a bit worried. My sister-in-law with Wells Fargo got hers last week, but nothing for me yet. I called the IRS yesterday after trying for days - busy signals and disconnects, you know how it goes. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed my refund is approved but just waiting in the queue for direct deposit. Apparently SECU batch processing might be causing a slight delay compared to some bigger banks.

I don't know about these services that charge you just to call the IRS. I called on March 12th at exactly 7:01am and got through after only a 45-minute wait. Seems like everyone wants to make money off desperate people waiting for their refunds these days.

Omg ty for mentioning this! I've been trying to get thru to the IRS for like a week straight. Kept getting the "call back later" message. Didn't know there were services that could help with this. Def gonna check it out if I don't see my deposit by Friday.

How much did it cost? Was it worth it? Did they tell you exactly when your deposit would arrive?

I'm with NC SECU too! Did you check your transcript to see if you have a deposit date yet? I'm still waiting on mine and getting really nervous because I filed back in February. Do you think it could be something specific to SECU that's causing delays for us?

I'm with SECU and got my deposit exactly 2 days after my DDD (deposit date) showed up on my transcript. The key is knowing what your transcript actually says. I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed me I had a 570 code (temporary hold) that was resolved 9 days later with an 846 code (refund issued). The site explained that my deposit would arrive within 24-48 hours of the date listed on the 846 line, which was 100% accurate. The IRS transcript codes look confusing but they tell you exactly what's happening with your refund.

Another paid service? Why would I pay for something when the IRS gives you your transcript for free? Couldn't you just Google what the codes mean instead of paying some website to tell you?

I doubt it's a SECU issue. Credit unions process ACH transfers just like banks. More likely you're just in a different processing batch at the IRS. They don't process all returns simultaneously. Your DDD determines everything, not your bank.

According to IRS Publication 2043 and the Automated Clearing House (ACH) guidelines, financial institutions are required to make electronically deposited funds available by the next business day after receipt. SECU is actually one of the better institutions for this. The delay is almost certainly on the IRS side, not SECU. I'm worried too, but it's just the normal processing time - we're still well within the 21-day standard timeframe outlined in IRC ยง6402.

I think I might have some good news for you! I'm with SECU and my refund hit my account this morning around 2am. I had a DDD of 3/15 on my transcript. It might be worth checking your account again, as they sometimes process deposits in the middle of the night. My refund was actually a bit larger than expected too, maybe because of interest? Not complaining though, I really needed this money for some car repairs.

Have you tried calling SECU directly? Last year I was in the same boat, and it turned out SECU had actually received my deposit but was holding it for 24 hours for verification. Once I called, they released it immediately. Their fraud prevention sometimes flags large deposits, especially if they're unusual for your account history. Worth a try if you're in a hurry!
