Anyone with DDD 2/14 filing through TurboTax with NetSpend card received their refund yet?
I filed through TurboTax on January 21st and got accepted same day. My WMR updated last week showing DDD of 2/14. I chose to have my filing fees taken out of my refund and I'm using my NetSpend card for direct deposit. It's now 2/12 and nothing has hit my account yet. Starting to get nervous because I really need this money for some unexpected medical bills. Has anyone with a similar situation (TurboTax, fees taken out, DDD 2/14) received their refund yet? Especially interested if you used NetSpend or similar prepaid cards.

I work in tax preparation and can explain what's happening here. When you choose to have fees deducted from your refund, your money goes through a third-party bank first (Santa Barbara TPG for TurboTax). This adds 1-5 days to your refund timeline. Your DDD of 2/14 is when the IRS releases the funds, not when you'll receive them. With NetSpend, you might see it on your DDD or up to 2 days earlier if they post pending deposits. However, with fees taken out, expect it on 2/14 or possibly 2/15-2/17. You can check your refund status at https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com/ with your SSN, filing status, and refund amount. This will tell you if TPG has received your refund from the IRS yet. Don't panic - this is normal for refunds with fees deducted.

•Thanks for this explanation! I just checked that site and it says "awaiting funds from IRS" so I guess that means they haven't received it yet. I'll try to be patient but it's so hard when you're counting on the money!

•This is why I always pay the fees upfront now. learned my lesson after waiting almost 2 weeks past my DDD last year.

•is that website legit? seems sketchy to put your SSN in there

•It's the official site for Santa Barbara Tax Products Group - they're the bank that handles TurboTax refund transfers. Completely legitimate.

•u can also call NetSpend directly and ask if they see a pending deposit. sometimes they can see it before it posts. that's what I did last year.

Hey, I was in the same boat last year - anxiously watching for my refund. I started using taxr.ai and it's insanely good! It reads your tax transcript and explains everything in plain English - shows exactly where your refund is in the process, when it will hit your account, and explains all those cryptic IRS codes. No more guessing or checking WMR 50 times a day! I use it every week during tax season - saved me so much anxiety. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•It's WAY more than just reading your transcript! It actually analyzes everything - shows your refund timeline, explains what each code means, predicts when you'll get paid, alerts you to delays or issues, and helps you understand if you need to take action. I was completely lost with all the IRS jargon before finding this. Literally saved me hours of googling and stressing!

•another paid service? the govt takes our money and then we gotta pay more just to figure out when we're getting our own money back 🤡

•I just tried it and wow, it actually explained why my refund was taking longer (had an adjustment I didn't understand). Worth every penny!

•OMG THANK YOU for recommending this!!!! Just used it and finally understand why my refund was delayed - apparently I had an offset code I didn't know about. This tool is a GAME CHANGER. Would've been completely in the dark otherwise. Everyone dealing with tax refund issues needs to try taxr.ai immediately!

I had exactly the same situation but with Cash App and finally got my refund this morning! My DDD was 2/14 too, filed with TurboTax on Jan 19th, and had fees taken out. Cash App usually posts 2 days early but because of the TPG bank stuff it took longer. I was freaking out too but it finally came through. Hang in there!

After spending HOURS trying to reach the IRS on the phone last year and getting nowhere, I used the Claimyr app (claimyr.com) this time around and got connected to an actual human at the IRS in under 30 minutes. The agent was able to tell me exactly when my refund would hit my NetSpend card and explained why there was a delay (something about identity verification that never showed up on WMR). Talking to a real person got my refund released so much faster than waiting around. Seriously, if you're stuck in limbo, this is worth trying!

•does this actually work? I've spent days trying to get through to the IRS

•Yes it actually works! The app basically navigates all the IRS phone menus for you and holds your place in line. When an agent is available, they call you back. Saved me literally hours of frustration and hold music. I was skeptical at first but it was the only way I could talk to a live agent.

•Whatever it costs, it's worth it. I spent 3 entire days trying to reach someone at the IRS last year. This year I used claimyr and talked to someone in 45 minutes. Best money I've spent during tax season.

•Just tried it - got a call back in 34 minutes and the agent resolved my issue immediately. My refund should be in my account tomorrow!! 🎉

•So glad it worked for you too! Such a relief to actually talk to someone who can see what's happening with your money instead of just guessing and waiting.

I have NetSpend with TurboTax and DDD 2/14. Nothing yet as of 10am EST today. Their customer service said they release funds as soon as they get them, but they don't have them yet. I'm getting annoyed because my friend with Chime already got hers yesterday with same DDD.

•This is why I switched to Chime after using NetSpend for years. Chime is consistently 2 days early with my paychecks and tax refunds.

•I'm in the same boat. Netspend, DDD 2/14, and nothing as of noon. Last year I got it day before DDD, the year before exactly on DDD. It's all over the place.

I use Credit Karma card and had DDD of 2/7. Got my refund on 2/6 (a day early). I had fees taken out through TT too. Last year it came 2 days early. They're usually pretty good about it.

Check if you have ACTC (Additional Child Tax Credit) or EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) on your return. Those refunds are held by law until mid-February regardless of when you filed. My DDD changed from 2/5 to 2/14 because of this and I freaked out until I realized why.

•I don't have either of those credits. Just a simple return with W2 income only.

NetSpend is the WORST for tax refunds. I had them last year and had to wait 3 days after my DDD. This year I switched to Current and already got my money (DDD was also 2/14). Just my two cents.

When does the WMR tool typically update? i keep checking and it still says "processing" even tho i filed 3 weeks ago

•WMR updates once a day, usually overnight between midnight and 6am EST. But honestly its not very reliable. I've had times where it showed nothing but my refund was already in my account 🤷♀️

•Did you try checking your transcript on the IRS website? That's more accurate than WMR.

TPGS site (that middleman bank) shows my refund was received from IRS yesterday but still not in my account. Called NetSpend and they claim they don't see any pending deposits. So where TF is my money sitting right now?? This is so frustrating!

•Check again tomorrow. The same thing happened to me last year - TPGS got it one day, then it took until the next business day to hit my account.

Anyone know if you can change your bank info if the refund is already processing? I just realized my old closed account is still on file 😱

•Once the IRS accepts your return, you can't change the DD info. If it gets rejected by the closed account, they'll mail you a paper check but that can take 4-6 weeks. sorry dude

I used taxr.ai last week when I was totally confused about my refund status. It actually showed me that there was a small audit happening on my account that WMR wasn't showing! The IRS was reviewing my education credits but it wasn't affecting my refund amount. It also gave me the exact date my refund would be issued and it was spot on. Saved me so much stress - https://taxr.ai

•Why would I pay for a service when I can just keep checking WMR for free?

Niko Ramsey
•Because WMR is useless lol. Mine was stuck on "still processing" for 3 weeks last year even though my refund had already been approved.

•WMR only gives you 3 generic statuses and no details. Taxr actually explains what's happening with your specific return, shows any adjustments, identifies delays or issues, and tells you exactly when to expect your money. Completely different level of info.

PSA: if you filed with TurboTax and opted for fees taken out, your refund path is: IRS → SBTPG → Your Bank. Each step can take 1-2 business days. This is why people without fees taken out often get their money faster.

This whole system is such a scam. We have to PAY to file our taxes, then PAY EXTRA to get them faster or understand whats happening with them, and then WAIT for our own money while these middlemen banks hold onto it. The IRS could easily make a free filing system and direct deposit option but noooo, gotta keep TurboTax and H&R Block in business 🙄

I had a similar issue last tax season and couldn't figure out what was going on with my refund. After trying to call the IRS for days (busy signals, disconnections, hours on hold), I found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that got me through to an actual IRS agent in about 40 minutes. The agent was able to tell me my refund was delayed because of a name mismatch they never notified me about. Got it resolved and had my money 3 days later. If you're stuck in limbo it's definitely worth a shot!

•Did the IRS agent actually have helpful info? I've heard sometimes even when you reach someone they just tell you to wait.

•In my experience they can see WAY more detail than what shows on WMR or even the transcript. The agent saw exactly why my refund was held up (in my case, my married name on W2 didn't match what Social Security had). They put notes on my account and manually released it. Cannot recommend enough - talking to a human changed everything.

Pro tip from someone who's worked in banking: Most financial institutions process ACH deposits in batches at specific times during the day. Common batch times are early morning (3-6am), mid-day (11am-1pm), and late afternoon (3-5pm). So if you're checking constantly, focus on those windows.

Is anyone else's transcript showing code 570 and 971? Mine has those and DDD disappeared 😳

•570 is a refund hold and 971 means they sent you a notice. You might be getting audited or they found a math error. Check your mail.

After 6 hours of trying to reach the IRS about my missing refund (kept getting disconnected after 2 hour holds), I finally tried claimyr.com and got through! IRS agent told me my refund was flagged because I accidentally entered a wrong W2 amount, but she fixed it right on the call. Scheduled for direct deposit next week now! It was the only way I could talk to a live person at the IRS without wasting an entire day.
