Filed with H&R Block with EITC/CTC - Still No Federal Refund While Others Got Theirs?

Anybody else that filed through H&R Block with both tax credits still not got their Federal yet? I am stressing that something may be wrong because I've seen a bunch of people get theirs and I haven't. I haven't received any letters or anything so I guess that's a good sign but I'm not able to check my transcripts because I lost the verification code they send you LOL. If anybody has any insight that is actually legit or are going through the same thing leave a comment, maybe we can all stress together lol 😂

If you claimed both the Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit, your refund is subject to the PATH Act, which means the IRS cannot issue your refund before mid-February. Even after that date, returns with these credits undergo additional verification. Current processing times for these returns are running 21-45 days from acceptance date, not counting weekends and holidays. When did you file exactly?

I filed on January 29th! So it's been almost 8 weeks now. I know about the PATH Act thing but like... it's well past mid-February now 🙄

I'm in the same boat! Filed with H&R Block on January 25th with both credits. My sister filed a week after me with TurboTax (also with both credits) and got hers last week. It's so frustrating! Have you tried calling the IRS? I spent 3 hours on hold yesterday and then got disconnected 😭

You should try using https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcripts. It really helped me understand what was happening with my refund this year. You'll need to get access to your transcripts first though - you can request a new verification code on the IRS website. The tool breaks down all those confusing codes and tells you exactly where your refund is in the process and when you might get it.

Thanks, I'll check that out! I just need to figure out how to get a new verification code first. The IRS website is so confusing sometimes.

I'm a tax preparer and I can tell you this is actually pretty normal for returns with both EITC and CTC, especially this year. The IRS is experiencing significant delays with these specific credits. About 60% of my clients with both credits are still waiting, while most of my clients with simpler returns have received theirs. Nothing to worry about yet - as long as you haven't received a letter, it's likely just in the verification queue.

Is there anything we can do to speed it up? Or just wait?

Unfortunately, waiting is your best option right now. If you hit the 45-day mark, then it might be worth contacting the IRS to ensure there are no issues they haven't notified you about.

After waiting 7 weeks for my refund with both credits, I finally gave up on the regular IRS number and used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com). Got through to an agent in about 15 minutes instead of spending days trying to call. The agent confirmed my return was just stuck in the extended verification process but nothing was wrong. Got my refund about a week later. Worth it just for the peace of mind knowing nothing was actually wrong with my return.

That sounds like exactly what I need right now! I'm going crazy with anxiety wondering if something's wrong. I'll check it out, thanks!

Does this Claimyr thing actually work? I've spent so many hours on hold with the IRS just to get disconnected...

Yeah, it definitely worked for me. I was skeptical too but after my third attempt calling normally and getting disconnected after 2+ hours on hold, I was desperate. They basically keep calling the IRS for you and then connect you once they get through.

H&R Block filer here too! Filed Feb 3rd with both credits, still waiting. Called IRS yesterday and they said it's "still processing" with no errors. Agent said they're just backed up and to keep waiting. So frustrating but at least we're not alone!
