Transcript Still Shows N/A - Filed in January, Accepted in February

Anyone's transcripts still say N/A? I filed 1/23 accepted 2/15. My child tax credit isn't even on my transcripts yet but I qualified for it. I haven't called because I don't think it will help and I haven't got any letters. Starting to get worried since most of my friends already got their refunds...

This is fairly common right now, especially with the high volume of returns being processed. Transcript availability can lag behind actual processing. The IRS is dealing with staffing shortages and system upgrades that are causing delays for many filers. Your return is likely in the processing queue, but hasn't been fully integrated into their transcript system yet.

How did you file? Did you claim any credits besides the Child Tax Credit? Returns with certain credits tend to take longer to process.

Filed electronically through TurboTax. Just claimed the Child Tax Credit for my two kids and the standard deduction. Nothing complicated that I know of.

I was in the exact same boat - filed 1/25, accepted 2/14, and my transcript showed N/A for almost 6 weeks. I finally used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript once it appeared. It explained every code and showed exactly why my refund was delayed (verification review that I didn't even know about). The tool predicted my deposit date within 2 days of when I actually got it. Saved me so much stress trying to decode all those weird IRS codes and cycles.

Don't stress too much. Last year my transcript showed N/A until literally 3 days before my refund hit my account. The IRS systems don't always update in real-time. As long as you have your acceptance confirmation, your return is in their system somewhere.

I don't think it's normal to wait this long. You should definitely call them. I was in the same situation last month and found out there was an issue they needed to verify.

Good luck calling the normal IRS number though. I tried for TWO WEEKS straight and couldn't get through. The wait times are insane this year.

I had the same problem until I used Claimyr.com to get through to an agent. They got me connected in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The agent confirmed my return was just stuck in the processing queue and nothing was wrong. Worth the fee to stop worrying and actually get answers: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

The "N/A" transcript status just means your return hasn't been fully processed yet. It doesn't necessarily indicate a problem. The IRS is still catching up from the pandemic backlog and their antiquated systems don't update in real-time. As long as your return was accepted, it's in their system. For reference, I filed 1/30, was accepted 2/10, and my transcript didn't update until 3/15. Refund arrived 3/18.
