Has anyone received their Child Tax Credit direct deposit this month?

Has anybody received their direct deposit this month for the child tax credit? Last year they were super consistent with the timing but this year seems all over the place. I'm trying to figure out if I should wait longer or if there's a problem with my account. Mortgage is due next week and I was counting on this like previous months. Anyone else still waiting or have you all gotten yours already?

The Child Tax Credit advanced payments for 2024 follow a different distribution schedule than previous years. According to the latest IRS guidance, payments are being processed in batches based on the last two digits of your SSN. The current batch (for SSNs ending 00-33) should hit accounts between the 15th-20th of this month. If you're in a later batch, your deposit may not arrive until the end of the month. You can verify your payment status through your IRS online account under the 'Payments' tab.

Wait, is this confirmed? I thought they weren't doing monthly pmts anymore after the expanded CTC expired. Did they bring it back for 2024?

I checked the IRS site on April 12th and didn't see anything about batches based on SSN. My last payment was deposited March 15th exactly, but nothing for April yet. Usually hits my account by the 18th at the latest.

The IRS.gov website has updated information about the 2024 CTC distribution schedule. I've been tracking this closely since January. The batching system was implemented to reduce server load after the February payment crashed their systems. You can find the official announcement under the Tax Reform section of IRS.gov.

Thank you so much for explaining this! I've been stressing out so bad wondering where my payment is. My SSN ends with 78 so I guess I'm in a later batch. Wish they would communicate this better, ugh! šŸ˜«

I've been tracking this issue for weeks now and here's what I found: ā€¢ Payments ARE being sent but are significantly delayed ā€¢ Many people are seeing "pending review" status with no explanation ā€¢ Some are getting partial payments instead of full amounts ā€¢ IRS phone lines are completely jammed I was pulling my hair out until I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my tax transcript. It showed exactly why my payment was delayed (verification code 570) and estimated when I'd get it. Much better than guessing or waiting on hold for hours.

Have you checked your IRS account transcript? Sometimes the payments get flagged for verification if there's been a change in your filing status or income. Ever wonder why the IRS makes it so complicated to track these payments? I spent 45 minutes navigating the IRS portal yesterday and discovered my payment was held because they needed to verify my new address. No notification, just silently held it up.

According to IRS Publication 972 section 3.4, the agency has authority to delay payments if their verification systems flag potential discrepancies. This is happening to thousands of people right now. I tried calling for three days straight and couldn't get through. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to reach an actual human at the IRS. Got connected in 18 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. The agent confirmed my payment was delayed due to a verification check but processed it while I was on the phone. Should arrive within 5 business days.

I've dealt with this exact situation and found a complete solution. Unlike tax refunds which can be tracked through WMR, these monthly credits require checking your tax account transcript. The transcript will show code 846 when your payment is issued. It's similar to how stimulus payments were tracked - you need to look at the specific codes rather than just the payment portal. If you don't see code 846 for the current month, your payment hasn't been processed yet. The IRS is running about 7-10 days behind compared to last month's schedule.

I received mine yesterday after a 2-week delay from the usual date. Have you checked if your banking information is still correct in the portal? Did you file your 2023 taxes already? Did you have any changes to your dependents this year? I noticed people who had any changes to their tax situation seem to be experiencing longer delays.

Got mine this morning! Was starting to think the IRS forgot about me or maybe my kids suddenly became tax-ineligible overnight šŸ˜‚ Seriously though, I was freaking out because I'm counting on it for daycare payment. Checked my account obsessively for days and then BOOM - there it was this morning, a week later than usual. Hang in there, it's probably coming soon!

Was yours exactly the same amount as previous months? Mine finally came through but it was exactly $247.83 less than my usual amount. No explanation whatsoever.

It's like waiting for water to boil - the more you check, the longer it takes! My payment was delayed last month too, felt like watching paint dry while bills were stacking up. This month was right on time though.

Check for offsets. Child support? Back taxes? Student loans? Government takes these first. Happens automatically. No warning sometimes.

You need to act ASAP if you haven't received it by now! Follow these steps immediately: 1. Log into your IRS account 2. Download your account transcript for 2024 3. Look for code 290 (indicates processing) 4. Check for code 846 (indicates payment sent) 5. If you see code 570, your payment is on hold If you don't see code 846 for April, call the dedicated CTC hotline at 800-908-4184 before 4PM Eastern TODAY. They're closing cases for this payment cycle at end of day!
