Anyone receive their tax refund direct deposit today? Still waiting with TD Bank
Has anyone seen their tax refund hit their account today even though it's a holiday? I'm with TD Bank and still haven't seen anything come through yet. My WMR status shows the deposit should arrive by 2/28. Just curious if other banks are processing deposits faster or if everyone's in the same boat waiting. I was really hoping to see that money today since I've got some bills coming up this weekend.

I worked for the IRS for 9 years, so I can explain what's probably happening. When the IRS issues direct deposits, they're sent in batches to different financial institutions. Even on holidays, the IRS computer systems are still processing and sending these batches out. However, each bank has different processing times for accepting these transfers. Some banks (especially credit unions and online banks) make funds available immediately upon receiving the notification, while others hold them until the next business day. TD Bank typically processes incoming ACH transfers overnight, so you'll likely see your deposit first thing tomorrow morning.

•Do you know if this varies by region? I'm with Chase and still waiting too, but my sister with the same bank got hers yesterday. We filed around the same time but live in different states.

•The regional processing doesn't impact direct deposits for tax refunds specifically. The difference you're seeing between your situation and your sister's is more likely due to the processing batch your returns were assigned to. The IRS doesn't process all returns simultaneously - they go through massive batches in a sequence. Your sister's return was likely processed in an earlier batch than yours, which is why she received her refund first despite using the same bank. If your Where's My Refund shows an approved status with a specific date, you should definitely receive it by that date, though many banks do process them earlier.

I was in the same boat last year waiting for my refund and discovered this amazing service called taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) that helped me understand exactly when my refund would arrive. It analyzes your tax transcript and tells you the exact refund date - much more accurate than the WMR tool. I was skeptical at first, but it showed me my actual processing dates and even explained some codes that were causing a slight delay. Saved me tons of anxiety!

•Does it work if WMR just says "still processing"? Been stuck on that message for 3 weeks now and getting worried.

•I'm always nervous about giving tax info to random websites. How do you know it's secure? And can it tell you anything if there's a hold on your refund?

•Yes, it actually works best for those "still processing" situations. It can see what's happening behind the scenes by analyzing your tax transcript, which shows information the WMR tool doesn't display. That's why I found it so helpful. The site uses bank-level encryption and doesn't store your sensitive information. I was concerned about security too, but they just use the data to interpret your transcript and then show you what's happening. And yes, it specifically identifies if there's a hold or review on your refund and explains what those codes mean in plain English.

Just wanted to update - I tried that taxr.ai site mentioned above and it actually showed me my refund was on hold due to income verification. The IRS never notified me! Was able to upload the documents they needed through my online account and now my refund is scheduled for next week. The transcript analysis showed exactly what was happening when WMR was just giving me the generic "processing" message. Definitely worth checking out if you're waiting!

If your refund is delayed beyond the expected date, I highly recommend using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an actual human at the IRS. I spent DAYS trying to get through the normal phone lines last year with no luck. Claimyr got me through in about 25 minutes instead of the usual 2+ hour wait. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c. The IRS agent was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my refund when the website showed nothing useful.

•Wait, how does this actually work? Seems sketchy that some service can magically get you through the IRS phone system when millions of people can't get through.

•Sounds like a scam. No way this works. I bet they just take your money and you still wait on hold forever. The IRS phone system is broken, no service can fix that.

•It uses a legitimate callback system that navigates the IRS phone tree for you. It's basically like having someone continuously redial for you until they get through, then it connects you directly to the IRS agent. You're still talking directly to the IRS - Claimyr just handles the frustrating part of getting through their overwhelmed phone system. No, it's not a magic solution - it's just technology handling the redial process. You still speak directly with official IRS agents, and they were the ones who helped me resolve my issue. Think of it like using a service to skip the line at an amusement park - the ride is still the same, you just don't have to wait as long.

I take back what I said. After waiting another week with no updates on WMR, I broke down and tried Claimyr. Got connected to an IRS agent in about 20 minutes when I'd previously spent hours on hold and getting disconnected. Found out my refund had been flagged for a manual review because of a mismatch with my W-2. The agent helped clear it up right away. Would have been waiting months without knowing the problem if I hadn't called. Sometimes you gotta admit when you're wrong...this thing actually worked.

TD Bank customer here too. Still waiting on mine as well, and my WMR also says 2/28. I think they're just slower than other banks. My brother has Wells Fargo and got his 2 days before the WMR date. Happened last year too. So frustrating!

•Just a tip - check your account really early in the morning. TD typically posts direct deposits between 2-6am. I've had tax refunds show up at like 3am before the date WMR gave me.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check first thing tomorrow. I just wish TD would process these as quickly as some other banks. I've heard some people with online banks get their money as soon as the IRS releases it, sometimes even 5 days before the official date.

Has anyone noticed the refund amounts changing? My estimated refund in TurboTax was $2,431 but the actual deposit was $2,407. Not a huge difference but wondering if it's interest adjustments or something?

•The IRS sometimes makes small adjustments based on math corrections. They might have found a small calculation error or possibly adjusted some interest. If the difference is more than $25-50, you should check your account transcript to see if they left a notice code explaining the adjustment.

TD Bank customer here as well! I'm in the exact same situation - WMR shows 2/28 deposit date but nothing yet. I called TD's customer service this morning and they confirmed they haven't received any pending deposits from the IRS for my account. The rep mentioned that even though today is a holiday, they do process ACH transfers if they receive them, but it sounds like the IRS batch for TD Bank customers might not have been sent out yet. Fingers crossed we see something tomorrow morning! I'm checking my account obsessively at this point.

•Same here with TD Bank! I've been refreshing my account every hour since yesterday. It's reassuring to know that TD's customer service confirmed they process ACH transfers even on holidays if they receive them. That means it's really just a matter of when the IRS sends out our batch. I'm setting an alarm for 3am tomorrow to check - hopefully we'll all wake up to some good news! The waiting is honestly the worst part of tax season.

Another TD Bank customer here checking in! I've been in the same boat - WMR shows 2/28 but still nothing in my account as of this morning. I actually called TD yesterday and they told me the same thing about processing ACH transfers on holidays if they receive them. It's frustrating because I know some other banks like Capital One and Ally seem to get refunds posted earlier than the WMR date. I think TD is just more conservative with their processing times. At least we're all in this together! I'm going to try to stop obsessively checking and just wait until tomorrow morning. Hopefully we'll all wake up to our refunds finally being there.
