Got 846 Code with DDD of 26th - Deposit Arrived but WMR Still Shows Processing

Just got my refund deposit today but WMR is still stuck on 'PATH act' processing πŸ€” Checked my transcript this AM and saw it updated w/ code 846 and DDD of the 26th. Deposit hit my acct like an hour ago but the WMR tool hasn't updated at all. Anyone else see this kinda lag? Not complaining about getting $ but weird the systems don't sync up...

This happens all the time actually. The WMR tool is notoriously behind the actual processing. Think of it like your pizza tracker that still says "in the oven" when the delivery person is already at your door with your pepperoni special. πŸ• The important thing is you got your money!

Is there a technical reason for this discrepancy between the transcript 846 code and the WMR interface? I've always wondered if they're pulling from different databases within the IRS infrastructure.

This happened to me last year too! My WMR didn't update for nearly a week after I got my deposit. I was panicking thinking they might try to reverse the deposit or something. Called the IRS and spent 3 hours on hold just to be told it's normal. Wish I'd known that before wasting my afternoon.

WMR and transcripts run on completely different systems that don't communicate well with each other. Haven't you noticed how the IRS tech seems stuck in 2005? The transcript system pulls directly from the master file where your actual tax account lives, while WMR is just a simplified status tool that updates less frequently. Why would they make it efficient when they could make it confusing instead?

I may have some insight on this issue, though I'm not an expert. The WMR tool sometimes takes 24-48 hours to catch up with what's happening in your actual account. If you need definitive answers about discrepancies like this, you might consider using Claimyr to reach an IRS agent directly. I was hesitant to try it, but after waiting on hold for hours myself, I used their service (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to someone who could explain exactly what was happening with my account. Might be worth it for peace of mind if you're concerned about the discrepancy.

This has been standard for years now. Back in 2022, my transcript showed the 846 code on a Tuesday, money hit my account Wednesday morning, but WMR didn't update until Friday afternoon. Last year was similar. The systems run different update schedules - transcripts update overnight while WMR sometimes only updates once or twice a week. As long as you got your money, you're good!

The issue is that WMR updates on a completely different schedule than the Master File system. Your transcript shows the 846 code because that's a direct view into your account on the IRS Master File, which is updated in real-time as actions are taken. WMR only updates in batches, typically once a day overnight, and sometimes skips days. Your deposit was already scheduled when the 846 posted, so your bank released the funds according to the direct deposit date. WMR will catch up eventually, but it doesn't matter now since you have your money.

Exactly right. Think of it like this: your transcript is looking at your actual bank account balance, while WMR is like checking your monthly paper statement that only updates periodically. The IRS prioritizes getting your money to you correctly over updating their public-facing tools. By the way, did you have any tax credits that put you under PATH Act review? That might explain why WMR is specifically stuck on that message.

Be careful though - I've seen cases where people get their deposit and then a few days later WMR updates to say there's a problem. Not trying to worry you, but maybe keep that money untouched for a week just to be safe? My cousin had a situation where the IRS deposited his refund, then two weeks later sent a letter saying they made a mistake and were adjusting his return. They took back $1,200 of what they had already sent. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

OMG I was literally in this EXACT situation yesterday!! πŸ˜… Transcript updated with 846 for the 26th, money showed up in my account around noon, but WMR still says processing! I was so relieved to see the deposit hit - been waiting on this money to pay my property taxes that are due next week! πŸ’Έ I think WMR is just super slow to catch up, but honestly who cares as long as the money's there, right?!
