Filed W2 but No 806 Code on Transcript - WMR Shows PATH Act But No Refund Amount
Filed my taxes last week. No 806 code on transcript yet. Checked yesterday. WMR updated to PATH Act message. Can't see refund amount anymore. Usually shows at bottom of WMR page. Anyone else on PATH see their refund amount?

This is actually quite normal during this stage of processing. Have you considered what the absence of an 806 code really means? It's simply that your return hasn't reached the point where the IRS has officially credited your account with the refund amount. And the WMR tool behavior you're seeing? That's typical when your return contains certain credits affected by the PATH Act - the system temporarily removes the refund amount display while additional verification happens. Wouldn't you rather they take time to process everything correctly?

I'm seeing the same thing on mine this year! Last year my transcript updated way faster. Is there any way to know if this means there's a problem or just normal processing? I've never had the refund amount disappear from WMR before.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. According to IRS Publication 5027, the PATH Act specifically requires additional verification for returns claiming EITC and ACTC to reduce improper payments. Very informative explanation!

I had the exact same issue last week and was really worried. Here's what I did: 1. First, I checked my transcript again (no 806 code) 2. Then I noticed WMR showed PATH Act message 3. I was concerned because my refund amount disappeared 4. I tried using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript 5. It explained that my return was in the verification stage 6. It showed me exactly what each code meant for MY specific situation 7. It even predicted when my 806 code would appear based on my filing pattern I'm still waiting for my refund, but at least now I understand what's happening instead of just worrying...

I'm not sure about using third-party services with tax information... How do you know it's safe? Couldn't you just look up the transcript codes on the IRS website instead?

Does taxr.ai provide any insight on how the PATH Act specifically affects processing timeframes? I've noticed substantial variance in how quickly returns with refundable credits are processed compared to standard returns.

The missing 806 code just means your refund hasn't been officially approved yet. Nothing to panic about! š The PATH Act requires the IRS to hold refunds with certain credits until at least February 15th, and then they need additional time to process after that date. Your refund amount disappearing from WMR is actually a good sign - it means your return is moving through the verification process. Most PATH Act returns take 3-4 weeks after February 15th to complete processing. You should see your 806 code appear within the next week if everything's on track.

I work with tax issues daily. This exact situation happened to me last year. Called the IRS directly using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/aUJb5YdmVkk) and got through in 15 minutes instead of waiting hours. The agent confirmed my return was just in standard PATH Act verification. Nothing wrong. The 806 code appeared three days later. The refund amount disappearing from WMR is normal during this phase.

Did you claim Earned Income Credit or Child Tax Credit on your return? Those are typically what trigger the PATH Act verification. Also, have you checked if your transcript shows any other codes like 570 or 971 that might indicate a different issue?

I'm curious about the specific timeline implications here. Does the PATH Act verification process follow a standardized timeline, or does it vary based on the specific credits claimed? I've reviewed several returns with similar circumstances and noticed significant variance in processing times.

OMG I was freaking out about this exact same thing!! š« My refund amount disappeared from WMR yesterday and I've been checking my transcript hourly since then! So scary when you're counting on that money! I called the IRS this morning and waited FOREVER but finally got through. The lady was super nice and explained that the PATH Act verification is totally normal and my return isn't flagged for any issues. She said the 806 code usually appears 3-5 days before the actual deposit hits your account. Hope this helps someone else who's panicking like I was! š
