Does Anyone Still Have PATH Act Message on WMR? Or Different Status Now?
Just checking about the PATH Act message on Where's My Refund tool: • Filed my 1099 taxes on February 2nd with EITC • Got the PATH Act message initially (as expected) • It's now March 26th and I still see the same message • No updates on transcripts either Has anyone else's WMR updated to something different by now? Or are others still seeing the PATH message too? Just want to make sure my return isn't stuck somewhere. I triple-checked all my numbers before filing.

The PATH Act delay is completely normal for EITC claims, but many filers should be seeing movement by now. The IRS typically releases PATH Act holds after February 15th, with most EITC returns completing processing 2-4 weeks after that date. Your transcript status is the better indicator - if you're seeing TC 152 codes or any 846 code, that's a positive sign regardless of what WMR shows. The WMR tool often lags behind actual processing status.

What about if transcript shows N/A? Still normal at this point?

Have you checked what your transcript actually means rather than just looking at it? Many people see codes and dates but don't understand the implications. I was confused by my transcript until I used https://taxr.ai to analyze it. Isn't it better to know exactly what's happening rather than guessing? The tool showed me exactly why my refund was delayed and when to expect it based on my specific codes.

Ugh another paid service?! I'm so tired of people pushing these things when the IRS gives us all this info for FREE! Why would I pay for something I can figure out myself with a little research??

Does this work if you claimed EITC like OP? Last year I had a similar situation and ended up waiting until April 12th before seeing any movement.

According to the IRS Operations page (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations), they're still working through a backlog of returns. You might want to try pulling your transcripts directly from IRS.gov rather than relying on WMR. The Account Transcript often shows processing stages that WMR doesn't display. Also check the IRS2Go app which sometimes updates before the website does.

Thanks for this! I didn't even think to check the operations page. Just looked at mine and I see they're processing returns filed on 1/29, so I'm right in that window.

I appreciate the step-by-step approach. Checking my account transcript was so much more helpful than just watching WMR!

I was in the exact same boat last year! Filed February 3rd with EITC, had the PATH message forever. I kept checking WMR multiple times a day (which I now know doesn't help). My transcript finally updated on March 29th, and the money was in my account on April 3rd. The whole process was WAY more complicated than I expected, especially since I've been filing taxes for years. The PATH Act really throws a wrench in everything.

I was stuck with the PATH message for 47 days last year. Tried calling the IRS directly but couldn't get through after multiple attempts. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to connect with an agent in about 15 minutes. Cost me $24.99 but saved me from hours of redial hell. The agent confirmed my return was just in the normal processing queue but had been flagged for additional verification due to the EITC claim. Had my refund 9 days later.

Is this legit tho? $24.99 seems steep just to talk to someone at the IRS. How do u know they didn't just put u on hold like everyone else?

Did you have to provide any personal info to the service? I'm interested but concerned about: • Privacy issues • Whether it actually works • If it speeds up processing or just gives peace of mind

Be careful about assuming everything is normal. I waited exactly 68 days last year thinking my PATH delay was standard, only to discover my return had been flagged for ID verification. The IRS never sent me a letter (or it got lost). I would have received my refund 6 weeks earlier if I'd called to check on it around day 30.

The PATH Act message doesn't automatically update for everyone at the same time. Direct deposits for EITC claims started going out February 27th this year, but they process in batches. Some people won't see updates until early April. Don't panic yet. If you're worried, call the IRS at 800-829-1040 but be prepared for long wait times.

I'm seeing a lot of similar reports from people who filed in early February with EITC. As of March 24th, many are still showing the PATH message. The IRS announced on February 15th that they would begin processing these returns, but actual completion dates vary widely. I'm concerned this might indicate larger processing delays than in previous years.

Mine was stuck on PATH forever then suddenly changed to approved yesterday! Filed Feb 1st with EITC and CTC. Have you checked your transcripts for a 846 code? That's what shows your actual refund date, even if WMR hasn't updated yet.

Just to clarify - the PATH Act message itself doesn't mean there's a problem. It's just the IRS's way of explaining why EITC/ACTC returns are held until after February 15th. Many people still see this message even when their return is processing normally. The message often doesn't update until right before your refund is issued.
