Anyone else showing SBTPG still 'unfunded' since 3/15?
I'm seeing my SBTPG account still showing 'unfunded' with a date of 3/15. This seems way longer than last year when it updated within like 3 days. I've already got my state refund direct deposited last week but federal is still MIA. Seems weird that my transcript shows the refund approved but SBTPG is just sitting there. Anyone else dealing with this or is it just my luck?

OMG same here! My SBTPG acct has been saying 'unfunded' since 3/14 and idk what to do. Called the IRS and got nowhere bc the wait time was 2+ hrs. My WMR shows approved but nothing's happening w/ SBTPG. So frustrating when u need $ for bills asap.

Thanks for sharing this info. I've been checking exactly 4 times per day and seeing the same unfunded status since March 16th. It's helpful to know I'm not the only one experiencing this delay.

I was stuck on "unfunded" from March 11th until March 23rd, then it suddenly changed to funded with no notification. The money hit my bank account on March 25th. The weird thing is my transcript had shown approved since March 9th. These third-party processors seem to be having major delays this year.

Did you get your fees taken out of your refund? I'm SO FRUSTRATED with SBTPG this year! If you opted for fees to be deducted from your refund, they act as a middle-man and that adds 3-7 business days to the process. Have you checked your transcript to confirm the refund was actually sent?

This is exactly right. SBTPG receives your refund from the IRS, deducts any preparation fees you owe, then forwards the remainder to your bank account. The "unfunded" status means they haven't received the deposit from the IRS yet, despite what your transcript shows. There's often a 2-3 day gap between when the IRS issues the payment and when SBTPG receives it.

I had similar issues last year when I used TurboTax and had fees taken out. Has anyone tried calling SBTPG directly? Their customer service was actually helpful when I had delays in 2023.

I once had this happen and it turned out there was a slight name mismatch between what the IRS had and what SBTPG had in their system. I called SBTPG directly at their customer service line and they were able to track down the issue. Took about 25 minutes on hold but worth it to get it resolved.

I might be able to help here, but I'd approach this carefully. First, have you tried contacting the IRS directly? Many people don't realize this, but sometimes there's a disconnect between what your transcript shows and what actually got sent to SBTPG. If you need to speak with an actual IRS agent (which might be necessary in this case), you might want to try Claimyr.com. I was skeptical at first, but they got me connected to an IRS agent in about 20 minutes when I was dealing with a similar issue. The agent confirmed my refund had been sent but was held up in processing at SBTPG's end. Here's their site: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

I've heard about these services that help you get through to the IRS, but I'm not sure if it's worth paying for something like that. Couldn't you just keep calling the IRS yourself? I'm comparing this to other situations where waiting it out eventually resolved things. What specifically did the IRS agent tell you that made the service worthwhile?

I had this exact issue last week. Have you considered what might be happening behind the scenes? SBTPG typically processes in batches, and sometimes there's a disconnect between IRS systems and their processing queue. In my case, the unfunded status remained for 7 business days despite my transcript showing the refund was issued. It updated overnight without warning and funds were in my account the next morning. The question is: are you seeing cycle codes on your transcript that indicate the refund was actually sent?

Have you checked your actual IRS transcript recently? I'm wondering if: ā¢ Your refund was actually sent by the IRS ā¢ There might be an offset or adjustment you're unaware of ā¢ SBTPG has the correct routing information Sometimes what looks like a SBTPG issue is actually something on the IRS side that hasn't properly updated in their system.

That's a GREAT point! I've seen cases where the transcript showed "refund issued" but there was actually an offset that wasn't immediately visible. Always worth double-checking!

I would also suggest looking at the specific codes on your transcript. Code 846 means refund issued, but if you see codes like 570 or 971 appearing after that, it could indicate there's still processing happening.

There's actually a weird quirk with SBTPG this tax season that not many people know about. š They've been experiencing system delays specifically with returns that have certain tax credits. The process typically goes: IRS approves ā sends to SBTPG ā SBTPG processes ā money hits your account. But this year, there's been a 5-7 business day lag between IRS sending and SBTPG acknowledging receipt. Did you claim any credits like Child Tax Credit or Earned Income Credit?

Is there any documentation from SBTPG about these specific delays? I'd be interested in reading their official explanation.

This is accurate. SBTPG released a statement on their partner portal (not visible to regular customers) noting system integration issues with their new processing platform. Returns with credits are being flagged for additional verification, causing delays of 5-10 business days beyond normal processing times.

Has anyone tried: ā¢ Contacting their tax preparer directly? ā¢ Checking the SBTPG status through their tax software? ā¢ Calling SBTPG's direct customer service line? Sometimes these alternative approaches get better results than just checking the online portal.
