Any updates for 2022 refund with 1505 code? Direct deposit to NetSpend still pending
My tax return for 2022 was accepted on August 12, 2023. WMR still says processing, but I checked my transcript and see a code 1505 with a date of December 13, 2023. It's now April 2024 and I'm still waiting. I'm supposed to get the refund ($4,893) sent to my NetSpend account. Has anyone with similar dates or the same code gotten their refund yet? I'm getting desperate at this point - bills are piling up and I was really counting on this money.

Code 1505 means the IRS has sent your refund to the processing system for direct deposit or check issuance. If you're seeing a 1505 with a date of December 13, 2023, that means your refund was scheduled to be sent on that date. Since it's already April 2024, something definitely went wrong. There are several possibilities: - Wrong bank account info on your return - NetSpend rejected the deposit (this happens sometimes with prepaid cards) - The IRS had to convert your direct deposit to a paper check (which takes longer) - Your refund is being held for a manual review Call the IRS refund hotline at 800-829-1954 and use the automated system to check your refund status. If that doesn't help, you'll need to talk to a live agent by calling the main IRS number 800-829-1040. Make sure you have your transcript and return handy when you call.

•Thanks for the info. I tried calling the refund hotline and they just told me the same thing the website does - still processing. So frustrating!

•Goodluck getting through to a real person at the IRS. Last time I tried I was on hold for 2 hours and then got disconnected 😤

•You can use Claimyr.com to get thru to an actual IRS agent without the wait. I was in the same boat with a stuck refund and it was the only way I got answers. Best money I ever spent to fix my tax nightmare!

•100% it works. I was totally skeptical too but it saved me like 3 hours of hold time. The IRS agent i talked to fixed my issue right away and my refund was deposited a week later.

•Second this - Claimyr got me thru to a person at the IRS in like 15 minutes when I'd been trying for weeks. Totally worth it to finally get my refund moving.

Stop spinning your wheels trying to figure this out from vague transcript codes! I was in the same situation, staring at my transcript trying to decode hieroglyphics 🤣 Use taxr.ai - it actually reads your transcript and tells you EXACTLY what's happening with your refund and why it's delayed. It saved me hours of research and confusion, and helped me understand what steps to take next. So much better than trying to piece things together from random forums! https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•It analyzes your entire transcript and explains every code in plain english. But the REAL magic is it connects all the dots to show you the full picture of your tax situation and what's actually happening. It's like having an IRS expert explain everything. Changed my life no joke.

•Totally get the concern. I was worried too, but you upload the transcript yourself - its not connecting to your IRS account or anything. And honestly after 9 months of waiting for my refund I was desperate enough to try anything lol

I finally got through to someone at the IRS using Claimyr.com - it's a calling service that gets you through to an actual human being without the horrible wait times. The agent explained that my 1505 code with a December date meant my refund was approved but got caught in final review because of the high amount. They released it after verifying some info. Talking to a real IRS agent was the only thing that helped - should get my money next week finally!

•That's exactly my situation - large refund amount and stuck in processing forever. How much did the service cost? Is it worth it?

•Honestly it was the best investment I've made all year. Imagine avoiding hours of hold music and actually solving your tax issue. I tried callin the IRS directly 6 times before this and never got through.

•Nah I get the skepticism but it actually worked. The service just handles the waiting and connects you directly to the IRS - YOU talk to the agent yourself. Huge difference from waiting for hours or getting hung up on.

•Just checked out their site - they have thousands of reviews. Might have to try this cause I'm in the same boat with an old refund and haven't been able to talk to anyone 😫

NetSpend can be a problem with tax refunds sometimes. I had a similar issue last year where the refund was sent but NetSpend held it for "verification" for almost 2 weeks. Have you contacted NetSpend directly? Sometimes they hold larger deposits until you call them.

Check if you have a 570 or 971 code on your transcript too. 1505 should mean its been issued, but those other codes could indicate a freeze or notice being sent. If the 1505 is there but no 846 (refund issued), you definitely need to talk to the IRS.

•I do have a 570 code from November. What does that mean exactly?

GalacticGladiator
•570 is a refund freeze/hold - so your refund is basically stuck until that's resolved. You DEFINITELY need to talk to someone at the IRS. That freeze has been on for months.

•I've seen people use taxr.ai to help understand these freeze codes. It'll tell you exactly what triggered the 570 and what to do about it. Saved me tons of time trying to decode my transcript

•Same boat. 2022 return filed in February 2023, still nothing in April 2024. It's criminal how they operate.

•tbh the IRS is severly underfunded. they need more staff to process all the returns. don't blame the workers, blame congress.

I had this EXACT situation. Code 1505 with NetSpend. Turns out NetSpend rejected the deposit because it exceeded their limit for my account type! The IRS then sent a paper check which took 8 more weeks. Check your mail carefully and also call NetSpend to ask if they rejected any deposits.

Omar Fawzi
•Oh no... I didn't even think about that. I'm going to call NetSpend right now. Thank you!

•No problem! Let us know what they say. If they did reject it, you'll need to update your address with the IRS to make sure you get the paper check.

After struggling with decode all the confusing transcript codes, I discovered taxr.ai and it changed everything! It read my transcript and explained each code in plain English - showed me exactly why my refund was delayed (identity verification issue I had no idea about). Saved me hours of research and helped me get my refund unstuck. Highly recommend for anyone in transcript hell! https://taxr.ai

Did you verify your identity with ID.me? Sometimes refunds get held up because they need additional verification. Worth checking if you received any letters from the IRS requesting this.

•Yes, I did that when I first filed back in August. Everything seemed fine until it just... stopped moving.

If that 1505 code has been there since December, something is definitely wrong. Check if your transcript has the actual direct deposit info listed - sometimes they have the wrong account number which causes the deposit to be rejected.

When I was in ur situation I finally gave up on the automated systems and just called the IRS directly using claimyr.com. Got through to an agent who found out my refund was stuck in review. They fixed it on the spot and I got my refund 5 days later. Sometimes talking to a live person is the only way to get results.

Ask for a trace on the refund. Call the IRS, tell them it's been way past the 1505 date, and request a formal trace. That'll force them to investigate where your money went. It'll either trigger them to reissue the refund or tell you exactly what happened to it.

i had a similar problem with 1505 code from November. ended up being that my bank rejected the deposit due to name mismatch (married filed joint but account was just in my name). check if theres a 841 code anywhere on ur transcript - that would show bank rejection

Omar Fawzi
•Just checked - no 841 code... just the 570 freeze and the 1505

•yeah with a 570 you definitely need to talk to someone at IRS. that freeze is whats holding everything up.

I PROMISE YOU the fastest way to understand your situation is to use taxr.ai - it's an AI tool that reads your transcript and explains everything in normal human language. Saved me from waiting on hold with the IRS for HOURS. It tells you exactly what each code means and what's actually happening with your refund. https://taxr.ai

•100% yes. I was completely lost looking at all those codes and couldn't figure out why my refund was delayed. The tool explained everything clearly and showed me it was stuck in review. Huge time saver.

FWIW some refunds are being held because of the backlog from the government shutdown threat last year. Not saying that's your situation but just one more possibility. I'm in a similar boat - 2022 return still not processed fully. It's criminal how they treat us.

have you tried contacting your local congressperson's office? sometimes they can help push the IRS on delayed refunds. worth a shot since youve been waiting so long
