My transcript is now visible on IRS website but shows $0.00 everywhere - update coming soon?
I've been waiting since March to see any movement on my 2024 tax return. Finally checked my transcript today and it's actually showing up (was N/A before) but every single line shows $0.00 amounts. The codes are there but no actual dollar figures. Does this mean I'm getting an update soon? Has anyone else experienced this? My WMR tool still says processing. Return was accepted April 2.

Yes, this is a common phase in transcript updates. When your transcript switches from N/A to showing the actual tax year with $0.00 amounts, it typically means the IRS has begun processing your return. You should see actual dollar amounts appear within 1-2 weeks. The system updates transcripts overnight on Wednesdays and sometimes Fridays, so check back on Thursday/Saturday mornings. The codes themselves can tell you more - which specific codes are you seeing on your transcript? Some codes like 150 mean your return has been processed, while others might indicate verification is needed.

•Thank you! I see codes 150, 806, 766, and 570. Does the 570 mean there's a problem?

•Code 570 is an additional account action pending - it's not necessarily bad but means they need to review something. The 150 confirms they've processed your return. Keep checking - you'll likely see a 571 (resolution) followed by an 846 (refund issued) soon.

•Had the exact same situation last year, took about 9 days from $0 transcript to full transcript with amounts and then got my refund 6 days after that. Your almost there!

•OP, did u claim any tax credits? Sometimes that can trigger a review and the 570 code. This is normal for EITC and child tax credit claims.

•Yeah I claimed child tax credit for my two kids. Thanks for letting me know that might be related!

I just went through this exact situation. The transcript codes were driving me nuts trying to figure out what was happening. Finally started using taxr.ai and it literally explained everything to me in plain english - told me exactly what each code meant for MY specific situation and when I could expect updates. Saved me so much time compared to endless googling and forum searches. You can upload your transcript and it translates all the IRS jargon. Highly recommend checking it out: https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•Omg it does WAY more! It explains every code, tells you what stage your refund is in, and even predicts your refund date based on your specific situation. It saw my 570 code and immediately told me it was just a standard review for my child tax credit (which was 100% accurate). No more guessing what all these random numbers mean! 🙌

•I was skeptical too but I SWEAR it changed my life 😭 My anxiety was through the roof before. Now I check my transcript once a week, run it through taxr, and actually understand what's happening instead of panicking about every little thing.

After weeks of trying to get through to the IRS, I used Claimyr's app (claimyr.com) to finally speak with someone about my transcript showing zeros. The app connected me with an actual IRS agent who explained that my return was in the verification queue and gave me an estimate of when I'd see real numbers. Having that conversation saved me weeks of anxiety and refreshing my transcript. Best decision I made during the whole tax nightmare - got answers in minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours!

•How does this even work? The IRS phone lines are impossible

Ryder Greene
•It basically navigates the IRS phone tree for you and holds your place in line. When an agent is available, they call you back. Took about 35 minutes for me (vs 3+ hours when I tried calling myself). Worth every penny considering how much time I would have wasted otherwise.

•this sounds to good to be true tbh. did you actually get meaningful help?

•100% did. The agent was able to see things on my account that weren't visible on the transcript, including that they needed verification of my identity. She even told me how long the current processing backlog was. I couldn't have gotten that info any other way!

Yep, that's EXACTLY what happened to me. Transcript went from N/A to all zeroes, then about 10 days later the actual amounts showed up and I got my refund 5 days after that. Ur almost there!

The IRS system is so incredibly frustrating. Why can't they just have a clear status update that says "we're processing your return" instead of these cryptic codes and mysterious zero amounts that everyone has to decode like some kind of tax detective 🕵️♀️ It's literally designed to make us suffer

•Because then they'd have to hire ppl who actually know how to build modern systems lmao. Their computers are probably from 1982 🤣

•I work in gov IT and can confirm. Their systems are an absolute mess of legacy code and patches upon patches. Congress keeps cutting their tech budget too

•Makes sense. Still infuriating tho that we all have to become amateur tax code detectives just to figure out basic info about OUR money 🙄

•This happened to me too. Called the IRS and they said I made a math error on my return. The agent actually fixed it on the call and I got the correct amount a week later.

•Oh that's concerning. I'll definitely compare the final numbers when they post. Do you know which code showed the adjustment?

•look for code 971 (notice issued) and 290 (additional tax assessed) - those usualy mean they changed something

I've been dealing with the IRS for 35 years and one thing is always true - no news is neutral news. The fact your transcript switched from N/A to zeros is actually significant progress. The IRS computer system runs weekly cycles (usually Wed night/Thurs morning) so check again next Thursday. Your cycle code on the transcript (should be near the top, looks like 20222205 or similar) can tell you which day of the week your account updates. Last 2 digits: 01=Monday, 02=Tuesday, etc.
0 coins
Freya Collins
•My cycle code shows 20242902 - so that would be Tuesday?
0 coins
Diego Fisher
•Yes, but most updates still post to the account Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The cycle code just indicates when your account was assigned for processing.

Have u verified ur identity with ID.me yet? Sometimes when transcripts go from N/A to zeros it means they need u to verify before proceeding.

Freya Collins
•Yes I did that when I first created my IRS account. Do I need to do it again?

Henrietta Beasley
•No should be fine then. Just checking since that's a common holdup when transcripts first appear with zeros.

Just to add a datapoint - filed Feb 15, transcript N/A until May 2, then zeros appeared, then full amounts May 9, refund deposited May 14. Hang in there!

I was in your shoes EXACTLY 3 weeks ago. Zeros everywhere, then $$ amounts appeared 8 days later, then refund 5 days after that. Good luck!

This IRS BS is why I switched to using taxr.ai this year. It analyzes your transcript, tells you exactly what's happening, and what to expect next. Helped me understand that the zero amount transcript meant my return was being processed but not finalized yet. Literally saved my sanity! https://taxr.ai

•That sounds helpful. did it accurately predict timing for you?

Emma Johnson
•YES! It said I would see values in 7-10 days and my refund 3-5 days after that. Got my values on day 8 and refund on day 12! It was spooky accurate.

Honestly so stupid that we even need to worry about this. The IRS took our money instantly all year long through withholding but when it's time to get OUR refund back suddenly everything moves at a snails pace. And we get zero communication about what's happening 🤮

After stressing over similar transcript issues last year, I got fed up waiting and tried claimyr.com to reach an IRS agent directly. Got a call back from an actual human who explained everything - turns out my return was flagged for a simple verification that never triggered a notice. Once I talked to them, my transcript updated with correct amounts within days. Sometimes you just need to speak to a human!

•I don't remember the exact price but it was totally worth it - considering I was waiting on a $4300 refund and wasting hours trying to call myself. Getting answers right away instead of waiting another month was priceless.

Pro tip: check your transcript between 3-6am EST on Thursday mornings. That's when the overnight batch processing completes and new info appears. Source: worked as a tax preparer for 12 years

Same thing happened to me last month! Transcript showed all zeros for about a week and a half, then suddenly all the amounts populated overnight. The 570 code you mentioned is totally normal - it just means they're doing a routine review, especially since you claimed child tax credit. Once that clears you'll see a 571 code and then hopefully an 846 (refund issued). The fact that your transcript is finally showing up instead of N/A is actually great news - you're in the final stretch! Keep checking Thursday mornings after their weekly updates.

•This is really reassuring to hear! I've been checking my transcript obsessively and the zero amounts had me worried something was wrong. Good to know the 570 code is routine for child tax credit - that makes total sense. I'll definitely start checking Thursday mornings like you suggested. Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps so much to know others went through the exact same thing! 🙏

I went through this exact same thing in March! My transcript showed N/A for months, then suddenly appeared with all zeros across every line. I was so confused and stressed thinking something was wrong. But just like everyone else is saying, it really is just a normal phase in the processing. Mine took exactly 12 days from zeros to full amounts appearing, then got my refund 4 days after that. The waiting is absolutely brutal but you're definitely moving through the system now. Check Thursday mornings around 6am - that's when I always saw updates appear. You're so close to the finish line!

•Thanks for sharing your timeline! 12 days from zeros to amounts is really helpful to know - gives me a realistic expectation instead of checking constantly. I've been so anxious about this whole process, especially since it's been months of waiting. Really appreciate everyone who's shared their experiences here, it's way more helpful than the generic IRS website info. Will definitely start checking Thursday mornings like you and others suggested!
