810 Freeze Code on Account Transcript but No Return Transcript - What's happening?

I just checked my transcripts and noticed an 810 code posted yesterday on my account transcript. There's nothing showing under my return transcript and no cycle code. Does this mean something is happening with my return?

Kyle Wallace

The 810 code indicates a freeze on your account, which means the IRS has temporarily stopped processing your return for review. This is usually to verify information or check for potential identity theft. Without a cycle code, it suggests the review just started. Keep monitoring your transcript for additional codes - particularly watch for a 811 code which would indicate the freeze is released.

It varies widely - could be 2 weeks to several months. Best thing is to keep checking your transcripts weekly for updates.

Hey, instead of playing detective with these codes, you should try taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect updates. It's only $1 and way better than guessing. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai
