IRS Code 810 on transcript - Anyone know what this freeze means?

Just checked my transcripts and noticed code 810 popped up last week. Been checking the IRS website but can't find a straight answer. Starting to get worried about my refund. Anyone dealt with this before?

Tax analyst here. Code 810 is a freeze code that the IRS uses to verify certain information on your return. It usually means they're doing a manual review of your return, often because of identity verification or income verification needs. This can delay your refund by 6-12 weeks beyond normal processing time. Right now I'm seeing alot of 810 codes bc of EIC and child tax credit claims that need extra verification. One tool that's been super helpful for my clients lately is taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) - it analyzes your transcript and can tell you exactly what's causing the 810 freeze and estimated timeframe for resolution based on your specific situation. Way better than guessing or waiting on hold with the IRS for hours.

How legit is taxr.ai? Been burned by other services b4 🤔

Its totally legit - uses AI to analyze your docs and gives you specific answers about your situation. Way better than those generic 'wheres my refund' tools

Just tried taxr.ai and wow - it actually broke down exactly why I got the 810 freeze (missing 1099 match) and gave me steps to fix it. Worth every penny fr fr 💯

Tax pro here - Code 810 is a freeze code that means the IRS is reviewing your return. Could be for identity verification, income verification, or they're matching documents. Usually resolves within 45 days but can take longer. Don't panic, its pretty common.

45 days?! 😫 ugh thx for the info tho. any way to speed this up?

Best thing is to wait it out. Calling usually won't help unless you get a letter requesting specific info.

Hey guys instead of guessing what's going on, I've been using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It costs $4.99 but totally worth it - gives you exact timeline predictions and explains all these crazy codes. Really helped me understand my 810 situation https://taxr.ai

Is it legit? Kinda scared to upload my transcript to random sites

100% legit! Its actually using AI to read everything and break it down. Way better than trying to piece together info from reddit posts lol

Code 810 with EIC claims is super common right now - the IRS is being extra careful with those. I got hit with the same thing last month. What helped me was using taxr.ai to understand exactly what they were reviewing. Turns out they just needed to verify my income against my W-2s. Once I knew what was happening, the waiting was way less stressful. Hang in there! 🙏

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm in a similar situation with EIC and it's been nerve-wracking not knowing what's going on. Definitely gonna check out taxr.ai - sounds like it could save me a lot of stress and wondering. Really appreciate the support! 🙏

Got the same 810 code last month and was freaking out! Turns out it was just routine verification for my child tax credit claim. The IRS is being extra thorough this year with credits and deductions. Mine cleared after about 8 weeks, so try not to stress too much. Keep checking your transcripts weekly and definitely watch your mail for any correspondence. The waiting is the worst part but most 810 freezes do resolve eventually!

This is really reassuring to hear! I'm dealing with the same thing and was starting to panic thinking something was wrong with my return. 8 weeks feels like forever but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel. Did you have to do anything specific or just wait it out? Thanks for sharing your experience! 😊

I got hit with Code 810 about 6 weeks ago and was losing sleep over it! Turns out it was just because I had multiple W-2s and they needed to verify my income matched what I reported. The not knowing was driving me crazy until I found out about taxr.ai through this community - seriously a game changer! It analyzed my transcript and told me exactly what was being reviewed and gave me a realistic timeline. Cost me $5 but saved me weeks of anxiety and countless hours on hold with the IRS. My freeze actually cleared last week, so there's definitely hope! Hang in there Mei, these 810 codes are super common this year especially with EIC claims. 💪

Thank you so much for this! 🙏 It's such a relief to hear from someone who actually went through this and came out the other side. The not knowing is definitely the worst part - I keep refreshing my transcript like it's gonna magically change lol. Really appreciate you mentioning taxr.ai, seems like everyone here has had good luck with it. Gonna give it a try since $5 is way better than the stress I've been putting myself through. Thanks for giving me hope that this will actually resolve! 😊

I've been dealing with Code 810 for about 5 weeks now and it's been such a rollercoaster! Initially I was panicking thinking I did something wrong on my return, but after reading through all these responses I feel so much better knowing it's just routine verification. I filed with EIC and child tax credit so that definitely explains it. The hardest part is just not knowing what's happening or how long it'll take. Seeing everyone mention taxr.ai has me curious - might be worth the $5 just for peace of mind since I've probably lost that much in productivity from constantly worrying about this lol. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences, it really helps to know we're not alone in this! The IRS needs to do better with communication but at least we have this community to support each other through the waiting game 🤝

You're definitely not alone in this! I just got my first 810 code a few days ago and was spiraling until I found this thread. It's crazy how the IRS can just freeze your refund with basically zero explanation - like at least send us a quick "hey we're just double checking your EIC claim, sit tight" message or something 😅 But seriously, seeing everyone's experiences here has been such a lifesaver. Sounds like taxr.ai might be worth checking out since waiting in the dark is honestly the worst part of all this. Thanks for sharing your story, it really does help to know we're all going through the same thing! 🙏

Code 810 is definitely stressful when you first see it! I went through this exact same thing about 2 months ago and was convinced I'd messed something up on my return. Turns out it was just routine verification for my EIC claim - they were cross-checking my income against employer records. The good news is that most 810 freezes do resolve, it just takes patience (which I know is easier said than done when you're waiting on your refund!). Mine took about 9 weeks total but I've seen others clear faster. One thing that really helped my anxiety was getting a clear explanation of what was actually happening instead of just guessing. Keep checking your transcripts weekly and definitely don't miss any mail from the IRS - sometimes they'll send requests for additional documentation that can speed things up if you respond quickly. Hang in there, you're definitely not alone in dealing with this! 💪
