570 Code on transcript - No letter received yet - Rep couldn't explain verification needed (2023 PATH Act hold?)
Filed back in January and just got a 570 code on my transcripts today. Called IRS and the rep said they sent a letter 2 days ago for verification but couldnt tell me what needs to be verified. Nothing showing up in my online account either. Rep mentioned something about false EIC/ACTC claims this year causing more verifications. Anyone else dealing with this?

The 570 code is a temporary hold while the IRS reviews your return. This year theyre doing extra verification on returns claiming EIC and ACTC. Even though PATH act lifted Feb 15, they can still freeze returns for review. Keep checking your mail - the letter should explain what they need. Usually its income verification or dependent info.

This happened to me last year! Letter came about a week after the 570 code showed up. They just needed my w2 to verify income, cleared up in like 2 weeks after I faxed it in.
