2025 Child Tax Credit Delay - Are All Refunds Being Held Until Feb 15?
I claimed the child tax credit and filed my taxes last week, but my tax person told me that the IRS is holding ALL refunds with CTC until February 15th. Is this true? Has anyone with CTC already gotten their refund? My transcript shows cycle code 20240502.

Tax pro here - Yes, by law the IRS cannot issue refunds before Feb 15th for returns claiming EITC or CTC. This is to prevent fraud and verify income reported. The PATH Act has been in place since 2015. Even if your return is accepted and processed earlier, the refund will be held.

•Not exactly. Feb 15 is just when they can START releasing refunds. Most people see deposits 1-2 weeks after that date.
