PATH Act Confusion: Getting Refund with ACTC Before Feb 15th?
Checked my transcripts today and noticed an update. I have child tax credit and additional child tax credit but no earned income credit. Always thought ACTC refunds were held until PATH act lifted, but my transcript shows refund being issued 2/14. Anyone know why im getting it before PATH lifts?

Tax professional here. The PATH Act does affect ACTC, but the IRS can process and approve returns before the actual release date. They just cant release the funds until after Feb 15th. Your 2/14 date is actually perfect timing - its right when they're allowed to start releasing those refunds.

•Not necessarily. Feb 15th is just when they can START releasing them. Some may take longer depending on processing status.
