Any Feb 6+ filers with CTC seeing updates yet?

Hey tax fam! Anyone who filed after Feb 6 and claimed just the Child Tax Credit (no EIC or other credits) getting any movement? I e-filed on Feb 8th and WMR still shows processing. Transcripts say N/A. Been in the US for 3 yrs now but this is my first time claiming CTC for my kids. TIA for any info!

Based on the current processing patterns, CTC-only returns filed after February 6th are starting to see movement as of March 21st. The IRS is currently prioritizing returns filed before February 15th, with most seeing 21-day processing times despite the official guidance allowing up to 6 weeks. If you filed on February 8th, you should see transcript updates by March 29th at the latest, with potential deposit dates in early April.

Is that still true even with the PATH Act delays? I filed Feb 9th with CTC and haven't seen any movement either. Starting to think they forgot about us! 😅 Do you know if there's any way to check if we're just in normal processing vs. actually delayed?

Did you get an acceptance confirmation from your tax software? My return was like a letter lost in the mail system until I realized my software only SENT it but never got the acceptance confirmation. It's like dropping a package at the post office but forgetting to get a tracking number!

I think... I might need to double-check this. I remember seeing something about acceptance, but I'm not entirely sure if it was just a confirmation that I submitted it to the software or if it was actual IRS acceptance. Maybe that's why I'm not seeing updates?

This happened to me last year! I was checking WMR for weeks before I realized my return was rejected due to a typo in my daughter's SSN. Once I fixed it and resubmitted, I had my refund within 10 days. Always worth checking your email for rejection notices!

How does this compare to previous years? I've heard the IRS is much faster this year compared to the COVID backlog years. Is that true for CTC filers specifically?

According to Publication 1345, the IRS must acknowledge acceptance or rejection of e-filed returns within 24 hours. If you didn't get either, there might be an issue with the transmission. I'd suggest checking with your tax preparer or software provider.

I was in the same boat (filed Feb 10 with CTC only). My transcripts were stuck at N/A for weeks. I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my account transcript once it finally appeared, and it helped me understand the cycle code and processing pattern. The system identified that I was on a weekly processing cycle rather than daily, which explained why updates were only happening on Thursdays/Fridays. Saved me a lot of stress knowing exactly what was happening instead of just guessing.

I'm so confused by all this! Last year I filed in January and got my refund in like 8 days. This year I filed Feb 7th with CTC and it's still processing. Is it because I'm claiming CTC for the first time? The PATH Act only applies to EIC right?

Does anyone know if filing status matters? I'm filing Head of Household this year instead of Single like last year... could that be causing additional delay perhaps?

I'm concerned about this too. The PATH Act technically applies to EITC and ACTC (Additional Child Tax Credit), but regular CTC shouldn't be affected. Are you claiming the refundable portion of the CTC or just the standard credit?

• PATH Act applies to EITC and ACTC • Regular CTC isn't subject to the same delays • BUT the IRS sometimes batches similar returns • Processing times increased across all return types Don't buy into the "quick refund" promises - they're often just expensive loans.

If you're worried about your CTC refund, here's what I recommend: 1. First, check your tax transcript (if available) for any codes 2. If you see code 570/971, that indicates a review 3. If it's been more than 21 days, you can call the IRS directly 4. To avoid the hours of waiting, try Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) I know how stressful it is waiting for your refund, especially when you're counting on it for your kids. Claimyr helped me get through to an agent in about 15 minutes when I was worried about my CTC last year. The agent confirmed everything was fine and my refund was just in normal processing.

Got my CTC refund yesterday! Filed Feb 12th, so we're definitely seeing movement. Isn't it funny how the IRS can take their sweet time collecting our money, but when it's time to give it back, we're checking our accounts like it's a boiling pot that never seems to heat up? Just keep checking your transcripts - mine updated last Friday and the deposit hit exactly when they said it would.

Same here! I filed on Feb 9th and just got my deposit today. I was getting worried because this is my first time claiming CTC too, but everything went smoothly in the end.

Deposit dates follow a strict pattern. Friday transcript updates typically mean Wednesday deposits. Thursday updates mean Tuesday deposits. IRS batches refunds in specific cycles based on the last two digits of your Social Security Number.

According to the IRS2Go app and https://www.irs.gov/refunds, most CTC-only returns are processing within the standard 21-day window. If you're approaching or beyond that timeframe, I'd recommend checking your transcript for cycle codes. The pattern this year shows returns filed 2/6-2/12 are currently updating in batches, with many seeing deposits this week and next.

FINALLY GOT MY REFUND TODAY!! Filed Feb 7th with CTC only, and WMR never updated beyond the first bar! I was so worried something was wrong, checking 10 times a day like a crazy person 🤪 Then boom - money in my account this morning! Don't lose hope if you filed around the same time - they're definitely processing our batch now!

Filed 2/10, CTC only, got DD on 3/19. WMR showed 1 bar until 3/17, then jumped to approved. Transcript updated 3/15 w/ 846 code. SBTPG received $ same day. Hoping you get yours soon! FYI my cycle code was 20231105.

The cycle code actually tells you which processing batch you're in. The first 4 digits (2023) represent the year, and the last 2 digits (05) indicate you're processed on a weekly cycle rather than daily. That's why you saw the update on Friday (day 5 of the week).

Did you have any 570/971 codes before getting the 846? I'm seeing those on my transcript and not sure if that means there's a problem.

I had almost the exact same timeline! Filed 2/11, transcript updated 3/15, deposit hit my bank 3/20. The waiting is so stressful when you're counting on that money, but it seems like they're moving through our batch now.

IRS is processing approximately 1,183,000 returns per day during peak season. Returns with CTC only (no EITC) are averaging 24.3 days from acceptance to deposit in 2024, which is 3.2 days faster than 2023. If you filed on February 8th, statistical likelihood puts your deposit date between March 3rd and March 7th, assuming no review flags were triggered.
