Filed February 2nd with Credits - Transcripts Still Blank?

Hey tax fam! Quick question for the group: • Filed and accepted on February 2nd (exactly 6 weeks ago now) • Claimed several credits (CTC, education credits) • Transcripts still showing as blank/N/A for 2023 • WMR still on first bar Anyone else in the same boat? Is this a sign we need to verify identity or something else? Just trying to figure out if this is normal or if I need to take action. Appreciate any insights! 👍

This is actually quite common this filing season. Per IRS Publication 5344, returns claiming refundable credits are subject to additional verification procedures under IRC §6428. The blank transcript status doesn't necessarily indicate identity verification is needed, but rather that your return is in the processing queue. According to the most recent IRS operational guidelines, returns filed in early February with credits are currently experiencing 45-60 day processing times, which puts you right in that window.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. My return has been sitting exactly 43 days with the same situation - filed February 5th with $4,200 in credits and still blank transcripts.

I was in the exact same situation last year. Blank transcript for weeks after filing with credits. I started using https://taxr.ai to check and analyze my transcript once it finally appeared. The service explained all the codes and gave me a much clearer timeline than the IRS site. It costs less than taking a tax pro to lunch and saved me hours of stress trying to decipher what was happening with my refund. The system accurately predicted when my deposit would hit, which helped me plan my budget accordingly.

Be careful about assuming everything's fine. My transcript was blank for 8 weeks last year. Turned out my return got flagged for income verification. The IRS never sent me a letter. I only found out when I finally got through to an agent. Don't just wait indefinitely - if you hit the 8 week mark with no transcript, something's probably wrong.

This is exactly why I always recommend keeping documentation ready, isn't it? The IRS systems are designed to flag discrepancies, but their notification systems often fail. Wouldn't you agree that having your W-2s, 1099s, and supporting documents organized is the best way to handle potential verification issues?

I'm possibly in this situation now. My transcript has been blank for about 7 weeks, which seems to be approaching that critical threshold you mentioned. I'm wondering if I should maybe start calling now rather than waiting for the full 8 weeks?

If you're concerned about the delay and want definitive answers, I'd recommend using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get through to an IRS representative. The IRS phone system has an average wait time of 85-110 minutes during peak season, but Claimyr's algorithm navigates the IRS phone tree and holds your place in line. I used it last week after my transcript remained N/A for 45+ days, and the agent confirmed my return was just in extended processing due to the Child Tax Credit verification protocols.

Here's what you need to do right now: 1. Check your IRS account online - not just transcripts but the full account page 2. Look for any messages or notices in your online account 3. Verify your address is correct in the system 4. If you claimed EIC or ACTC, understand the PATH Act delays processing until at least mid-February 5. Start calling the IRS immediately if you're past 6 weeks with no transcript Time is critical here - if there's an issue, addressing it now could be the difference between getting your refund in April versus waiting until August!

OMG this is so true! I waited too long last year and regretted it! My heart sank when I realized I could have fixed the issue in March but didn't find out until June. The IRS finally told me they needed verification of my dependents, which took 5 minutes to resolve once I actually talked to someone!

Does checking the account page show different info? My transcript is blank. The account page looks normal. No notices showing. Not sure what to look for exactly.

I filed on February 3rd, 2024 with Child Tax Credit and Education Credits. My transcript stayed blank until March 12th, exactly 38 days later. It then updated overnight with all codes at once, including DDD for March 15th. The money hit my account on March 14th, one day early. This seems to be the pattern this year - long silence followed by sudden complete processing. If you're at 42-45 days, you're likely very close to seeing movement.
