Filed 1/24 and Verified Identity 2/12 - Still No Transcript Updates

I'm trying to understand what's happening with my refund this year. Here's my timeline so far: 1. E-filed on January 24th (first day possible) 2. Got acceptance confirmation same day 3. Received letter to verify identity on February 8th 4. Completed ID verification on February 12th 5. It's now been over 6 weeks since verification with no updates I've checked both WMR and my transcript every few days. WMR still shows the first bar, and my transcript for 2023 still says N/A. Is this normal processing time after verification? This is my first filing since my divorce finalized, so I'm wondering if that's causing delays? Anyone else experiencing similar timelines?

I went through something similar last year. The ID verification step adds about 9 weeks to processing in my experience. When I called last year, they told me the 21-day normal processing time restarts after verification is complete. Have you checked if your state refund is also delayed? Sometimes they process independently.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the 9-week timeline. I was starting to think something was wrong with my return. I'll try to be more patient.

OMG this ID verification thing is SO frustrating! 🤬 I had the exact same issue but mine took exactly 63 days after verification before I saw any movement. The most annoying part was that there was nothing wrong with my return - just a random selection for verification. Hang in there!

You should try using https://taxr.ai to understand what's happening. I was in limbo for weeks after verification, and it helped me decode what was happening on my transcript. It showed me exactly where my return was stuck in processing and when I could expect movement. Saved me a ton of stress wondering if I needed to call the IRS or just wait.

I'm always skeptical of these tax tools. How is this any better than just looking at the IRS website? Seems like another way to get people to pay for information that should be free.

I was in the same boat after ID verification and actually found taxr.ai helpful. Here's what it did for me: • Explained my transcript codes in plain English • Showed me the exact processing stage I was in • Predicted my refund date (was accurate within 2 days) • Alerted me to a math error before I got the official notice The IRS website just gives generic info, this actually interpreted MY specific situation.

I had almost the exact same timeline! It's like being stuck in tax purgatory. Think of the ID verification as a tollbooth on the highway - once you pass it, you still have to drive the rest of the way. I verified on February 10th and just got my deposit yesterday. So about 7 weeks after verification for me. Your divorce status change might add a bit more scrutiny, like adding a construction zone to that highway.

When did you actually see transcript updates though? Did it just suddenly appear with all the codes at once? Or did it update gradually? I'm checking mine daily and still nothing.

ID verification always causes delays. Normal processing is disrupted. Additional review happens. Transcript updates are paused. Try calling the IRS directly. Wait times are terrible. I used Claimyr (https://youtube.com/watch?v=_kiP6q8DX5c). Got through in 15 minutes. Agent confirmed my return was in final review. Got my deposit a week later. Worth the fee to avoid hours of redial frustration.

Be careful about checking too frequently! According to the IRS.gov website FAQ section, the Where's My Refund tool and transcript system only update once every 24 hours, usually overnight. Checking multiple times per day won't show new information and some users report getting temporarily locked out of their accounts after too many login attempts. The IRS is also experiencing higher than normal processing delays this year according to their operations update page.

Have you checked for a 570 code? That's an additional account action pending. Or a TC 420 for examination? Those would explain the delay. Without transcript access, it's difficult to diagnose. I'm concerned the divorce might have triggered additional review protocols.

The community wisdom here is that identity verification adds significant time to processing. Most people report 6-9 weeks after verification before seeing movement. I verified on February 8th and saw my first transcript update on March 29th. My deposit arrived on April 3rd. The silence is normal but frustrating. The system just takes time to work through the backlog.
