When do cycle 05 transcripts update? Still showing N/A after filing 2/1
This tax refund process feels like waiting for rain in a drought. Filed/Accepted 2/1 and my transcript still shows N/A for 2024. About two weeks ago, I had to verify my identity (like they don't already know who I am after taking half my paycheck in the divorce), then that verification notice randomly disappeared. This weekend the verification prompt came back and hasn't gone away since. I'm entitled to MY money and need some straight answers about when cycle 05 actually updates. Anyone else drowning in this bureaucratic quicksand?

Let me break this down for you based on what I've seen with cycle 05 updates: 1. First, cycle 05 typically updates late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning 2. The N/A transcript is completely normal until they actually process your return 3. The identity verification process adds another layer of delay 4. When identity verification disappears and reappears, it usually means they're working on your account in stages 5. From my experience last year, it took about 6 weeks from identity verification to transcript update The system isn't broken - it's just painfully slow and designed to frustrate the average person.

Did you claim any credits like EIC or CTC? I ask because exactly 86% of delayed returns with identity verification involve refundable credits. Also, when you say it "came back up" - did you get an official letter with a 5071C code or is this just on the Where's My Refund tool? The timeline matters because verification adds precisely 21-28 days to processing in 67% of cases.

You're right to ask about credits. They trigger automatic verification processes. If OP filed on February 1st, they're at exactly 54 days of processing time now, which exceeds standard processing but falls within extended verification timeframes.

This happened to me too! The verification notice appeared, disappeared, then reappeared. So frustrating! • Filed January 28th • ID verification notice February 15th • Notice disappeared March 1st • Notice reappeared March 10th • Finally got my refund March 24th Hang in there!

Isn't it ridiculous how they can't just tell us exactly what's happening? Why make us guess about these notices appearing and disappearing? Why not just send a clear message saying "we're working on your verification in stages" instead of this confusing back and forth?

I had almost the identical situation last year. My transcript stayed N/A for 7 weeks after filing, then suddenly appeared with all processing dates on the same day. The verification notice came and went twice for me. I was shocked when my refund hit my account just 3 days after the transcript finally appeared - no warning, just money in my account!

So I claimed both EIC and CTC since I have custody of the kids after the divorce. I did get an official letter with a verification code - had to go through the [ID.me](http://ID.me) process and upload my driver's license. Did all that right away. The weird part is that the verification notice on WMR disappeared for about 10 days, then suddenly reappeared this weekend. It's like the IRS is playing hide and seek with my money.

When exactly did you complete the ID.me verification? The system typically takes 48 hours to register completion on March 27th, but can take up to April 3rd during peak processing periods.

Did they ask you for any additional documentation beyond your ID? I'm so relieved to hear I'm not the only one with this disappearing/reappearing verification issue! It's been making me so anxious!

Based on your filing date and verification timeline, you're experiencing the Extended Verification Protocol (EVP) that's particularly common with Cycle 05 processing. The transcript update delay is consistent with Path Act verification procedures for refundable credits. When I faced this exact situation, I wasted 4 hours on hold with the IRS trying to get answers. I finally tried Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in 18 minutes who confirmed my return was in the Extended Review department. They gave me the exact timeline for my case and explained why the verification notice was reappearing. Worth the service fee to get actual answers instead of more waiting.

Is this service actually worth it? I've heard mixed things about these IRS call services. Couldn't you just keep calling the IRS yourself until you get through?

I used Claimyr last month after trying to call the IRS for literally 2 weeks straight. Got through in about 25 minutes and found out my return was flagged for a simple address mismatch. The agent fixed it while I was on the phone and my refund was processed the next week. Saved me weeks of more waiting.

I had the exact same verification loop issue and used Claimyr after seeing it recommended here. The agent told me the reappearing verification notice was actually a good sign - meant my return had moved to the next processing stage. Got my refund 9 days later. Would have kept panicking without that info.

Have u checked your account transcript instead of return transcript? Sometimes acct transcript updates first and shows pending refund info before the return transcript becomes available. Also, did u try checking at diff times? Some ppl see updates around 3-4am on Thurs for cycle 05.

The IRS is required under Internal Revenue Manual 21.4.1.3 to process returns within 21 days, but identity verification extends this timeline significantly. I was in your exact situation last year - filed 2/3, verification notice 2/20, notice disappeared 3/5, reappeared 3/15. My transcript finally updated on 3/23 and refund deposited 3/27. You need to act quickly though - if they don't hear back on verification within 30 days, they can freeze your refund under procedure 6490.1 until you respond to a formal 5071C letter.
