Married Filing Jointly (MFJ) filers check in - Filed 1/29, accepted with credits but no updates
Filed MFJ on 1/29, got accepted same day, claimed some credits (CTC & EITC) but no updates yet on WMR or transcripts. Anyone else in same boat? Getting antsy since this is my 1st time filing in US system. Thx for any info!

According to IRS Publication 2043 and the PATH Act provisions, returns claiming EITC and CTC are subject to additional verification procedures. The IRS is legally required to hold these refunds until at least February 15th, with most refunds being issued by February 28th. I filed January 24th with similar credits and just received my deposit yesterday. The processing time this year seems to be running 30-45 days for credit claims.

Here's what I've observed with MFJ filers this season: 1. File in January with credits = longer wait 2. Most January filers with credits are seeing 30-45 day processing times 3. Transcripts often update before WMR 4. Many people get deposits without any WMR updates 5. Check your account transcript, not return transcript I've been tracking patterns for years and this season is running about 7-10 days slower than normal.

Omg I'm getting so worried! Filed 1/30 and still nothing! I've been counting on this money for car repairs and now I'm stuck taking the bus everywhere š«

I had the exact same experience last year. Filed Jan 28th with EITC and waited 38 days with zero updates. Then suddenly my transcript updated and money appeared in my account two days later. No rhyme or reason to it!

PATH Act delays credits. This is normal. System is backlogged. Try https://taxr.ai for transcript analysis. It helped me understand my codes. Shows predicted deposit dates too. Saved me constant checking.

I tried that site exactly 2 days ago and it said my refund would deposit in 5-7 days. It gave me all these specific dates and explanations for code 570 followed by 971. Is the AI actually accurate or just making educated guesses based on typical timelines?

I was hesitant to try any tools outside the IRS website, but my brother-in-law suggested taxr.ai when I was confused about my transcript codes. It explained what my cycle code meant and why I had a 570 hold that I didn't understand. The IRS site just lists code definitions without explaining what they mean for your specific situation.

I filed MFJ on 1/26 with CTC and EITC. Transcript updated on 3/1 with DDD of 3/6. Refund hit my account this morning. No WMR updates at all during the process. Check your transcripts daily - they're more reliable than WMR.

I believe your experience might be somewhat typical for this filing season, though I'm curious - did you perhaps receive any notices or letters from the IRS during that waiting period? Sometimes they send verification requests that can go unnoticed.

Ever tried calling the IRS to get answers? Impossible, right? I spent 4 hours on hold last week only to be disconnected. Why does our tax system have to be this frustrating? I finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in 20 minutes who confirmed my return was just in the normal processing queue. Nothing wrong, just waiting in line. Saved me days of anxiety wondering if something was wrong.

Have you checked your transcripts for any codes? Sometimes there are processing delays that don't show up on WMR but appear on transcripts. What cycle code do you have on your account transcript? Did you file electronically or by paper?

Anyone seeing these patterns this year? ā¢ Filed January with credits ā¢ Accepted immediately ā¢ No WMR updates for 30+ days ā¢ Transcript shows processing date but no refund date ā¢ Cycle code ends in 05 Trying to figure out if there's a pattern to the delays.

Lol that's EXACTLY my situation! Filed 1/28, cycle code 20240805. Been stuck on "still processing" for 5 weeks now. Called IRS twice and got the standard "wait 21 days" speech both times. š Last year I filed in March and got my refund in 8 days!

It's like being stuck in tax purgatory! My return is like a plane circling the airport with no permission to land. I've got the same pattern - filed 1/31, accepted same day, cycle code ending in 05, and now just watching everyone else get their refunds while mine is in the IRS waiting room.

Back in 2022, I had a similar situation with MFJ and credits. Filed January 29th, no updates until March 8th. Last year was better - filed January 30th and received refund February 27th. This year I filed February 3rd and already received my refund on March 1st. The pattern I've noticed is that later January/early February filers often process faster than early January filers with credits. The system seems to work in batches rather than strictly first-come-first-served.
