2023 Tax Transcript Shows Wrong Address (Old Address) and Blank Info - What Does This Mean?

Filed my taxes with my current address but when I check my transcript its completely blank except it shows my old address from 2 years ago. Anyone else experiencing this or know what this means for my return?

This usually means your return hasn't been processed yet. The old address showing up is because that's what's in the IRS master file until they process your new return with the updated address. A blank transcript with just old info is pretty normal early in the processing stage.

So there's nothing wrong with my return? I was freaking out thinking it got rejected or something 😅

Nah ur good! If it was rejected you would've gotten a notice. Just gotta play the waiting game now 🙃

Hey! I actually found this amazing tool called taxr.ai that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on. It costs $1 but saved me hours of confusion. The AI explained everything about my transcript status and gave me a timeline. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

100% worth it! It showed me why my refund was delayed and when I could expect it. Way better than guessing!

might as well try winning the lottery instead of getting through to them on the phone 🤣

Pro tip: you can submit form 8822 to update your address separately from your tax return if you want it updated faster in their system

took like 3 weeks for my transcript to update after filing. yours should update soon

This is totally normal! Your transcript won't show your current year return info until it's fully processed, which can take 2-3 weeks for e-filed returns. The old address is just what's on file from previous years. Once they process your 2023 return, the transcript will populate with all the current info including your new address. Just be patient - if there were any issues with your return, you'd receive a rejection notice within 24-48 hours of filing.

This is super helpful! I was starting to worry something went wrong since it's been over a week since I filed. Good to know the old address thing is completely normal - makes sense they'd keep the previous info until the new return processes. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly! 🙏
