2023 Record of Account Transcript Available But Completely Blank - Cycle 05 Filer Concerned About Missing Tax Return Data
Filed my taxes and got assigned cycle 05. Everything else shows 2024 dates but my 2023 Record of Account Transcript is completely blank with no numbers. I can see that in my IRS transcript page online (sa.www4.irs.gov) there are three years of Record of Account Transcripts available in PDF format: 2023 Record of Account Transcript [PDF] 2022 Record of Account Transcript [PDF] 2021 Record of Account Transcript [PDF] The 2021 and 2022 ones have data, but when I click on the 2023 one, it's completely blank. No cycle dates, no transaction codes, nothing at all. This is really frustrating since I need to see if my return was accepted and when I might expect my refund. Anyone know what this means or when it might update? Is this normal for cycle 05 filers, or should I be concerned about my 2023 return? Has anyone else experienced this where you can see the transcript is available but it contains no data?

Hey there, I know exactly what your seeing with the blank transcripts. This is totally normal for early 2024 filers since the IRS hasn't started processing returns yet. The cycle codes and numbers will start populating once the IRS begins accepting returns (usually late January). Tax pro here. Blank transcript usually means its still processing and hasnt been assigned numbers yet. Cycle 05 updates Thursday nights/Friday mornings around 3am EST. Keep checking back weekly.
