Will federal benefits still pay if requested right before 7/25 expiration date? - DEO payment timing question
Okay I'm really confused and starting to panic. I just requested my benefits yesterday (Wednesday) through CONNECT, but I know from experience that I usually don't see the money hit my account until the following week because of weekend processing delays. My question is: since the federal unemployment benefit ($300 extra) is set to expire on 7/25, will I still get that money with this claim? Or am I going to lose out on the federal portion because the actual payment won't process until after the expiration date? I really need that extra $300 to cover my electric bill this month. Has anyone dealt with this timing issue before?

as long as u requested for week ending before the cutoff date ur fine. its when u claimed that matters not when it hits ur account

•Thank you! That's a relief. I was getting so worried because my landlord is already on my case about being late last month.

The federal benefits are determined by the week ending date that you're claiming, not when the payment actually processes. As long as you're claiming weeks that ended before the program expiration on 7/25, you'll receive the federal enhancement for those weeks, even if the payment doesn't hit your account until after that date. The DEO system marks your eligibility based on when you certified, not when they release payment. This is especially important with CONNECT's processing delays that often push payments into the following week.

•This happened to me with the last federal program too!! I was freaking out thinking I wouldn't get the money but it showed up 5 days later WITH the federal portion. DEO might be slow but they do track which weeks qualify for what benefits.

Does anyone know if there's going to be another extension?? I heard rumors that they might extend it again. My cousin in Georgia said they were hearing something similar. I'm so stressed about losing that extra $300 when my industry still hasn't fully recovered. What are people supposed to do??

•Currently there's no confirmed extension of the federal enhancement program in Florida. The state is actually moving in the opposite direction by ending their participation in federal unemployment programs earlier than required. I recommend preparing for the federal enhancement to end as scheduled. Focus on completing all your work search requirements (5 per week) to maintain your regular state benefits, which will continue even after the federal portion ends. The DEO website has the most up-to-date information on program timelines.

I had the EXACT same concern last month! The people saying it's based on when you claimed are 100% correct. I was panicking for nothing. The way the DEO system works is it 'tags' the weeks you're claiming with whatever programs were active during those weeks. The payment processing time has no effect on what benefits you receive. BUT make sure you've properly requested ALL weeks you're eligible for before the cutoff. Double-check your CONNECT account to ensure you didn't miss any available weeks. I almost missed one last time because the system was glitchy.

•Oh that's a good point about checking for all available weeks. I'll log back in today and make sure I didn't miss anything in the system.

try calling the DEO to confirm. I kno it's IMPOSSIBLE to get thru to them but I found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to a real agent in under 20 mins after trying for 2 weeks on my own!! They have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent I talked to confirmed everything about the federal benefits for me and fixed another issue with my claim at the same time. Worth it just for peace of mind. Their website is claimyr.com

•I've tried calling so many times and either get disconnected or sit on hold forever. I'll check this out - I'd honestly pay anything just to talk to a real person right now. Thanks for sharing!

THE DEO IS TRYING TO CHEAT PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR FINAL PAYMENTS!!! This happened during the last program too. They're DELIBERATELY slow-processing final weeks hoping people won't notice or will give up fighting for it. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING and take screenshots of your claim weeks!!! When I had this issue I had to file an appeal to get my money!!!

•This is misinformation. While DEO does have processing delays, there's no evidence they deliberately delay payments around program end dates. The system automatically tracks which weeks qualify for federal enhancement based on program rules. If your payment is missing the enhancement when it arrives, then you should contact DEO for clarification, but the vast majority of payments process correctly even during program transitions. It's important not to spread unverified claims that could cause unnecessary anxiety for claimants.

anyone know when they're gonna announce the next extension? my neighbor said her brother who works at a government office heard they're planning to extend it another 6 weeks

•There is currently no credible information about an extension of the federal enhancement program. Florida has actually been moving toward ending participation in federal programs earlier than required. I would advise against relying on rumors and instead monitor official DEO announcements. It's best to prepare financially as if the enhancement will end on the scheduled date.

To directly answer your question: You will receive the federal enhancement for any week you claim that ended before the program expiration date. The date you request payment or when the money actually arrives in your account doesn't affect your eligibility. Something else to be aware of: Make sure you're also prepared for the transition back to regular state benefits only. This means: 1. Your weekly benefit amount will decrease by $300 2. You'll still need to complete 5 work search activities each week 3. Regular state benefits (RA) will continue until you exhaust your balance or benefit year ends If you anticipate financial hardship after the federal enhancement ends, Florida has various assistance programs for utilities, housing, and food that you may qualify for. Check the DEO website for resources or contact your local CareerSource office for guidance on additional support programs.

•Thank you for this detailed explanation. I've been applying to jobs but my industry (hospitality) still isn't fully staffed up in my area. I'll definitely look into those other assistance programs too since losing the $300 is going to make things really tight.
