Why does NY unemployment deposit take so long after Friday certification?

Yeah unfortunately the ny unemployment system doesn't process payments on weekends. When you certify on Friday, the payment gets processed the following Monday, and depending on your bank it usually hits your account Tuesday or Wednesday. I always try to certify early Sunday morning so I can get paid by Tuesday. Just how their archaic system works 🙄

I've been on NY unemployment since August and yes this is normal (unfortunately). Friday certification = Monday processing = Tuesday/Wednesday deposit. Sunday certification is def the move for fastest payment.

If ur really desperate and have cashapp sometimes the money hits a day earlier with them vs regular bank. Just my experience
