PEUC extension still showing 'exhausted' a week after applying - DEO not processing automatically?

So frustrated right now! I claimed my last 2 weeks of regular unemployment benefits last Monday and my account immediately showed WBA exhausted. I applied for the PEUC extension the same day thinking it would process quickly, but it's been a whole week and my account is still showing 'exhausted' status. I'm getting really anxious because I've seen several posts here where people said their accounts switched over to PEUC almost immediately. Is this normal or is something wrong with my application? Should I be calling DEO about this or just keep waiting? My rent is due next week and I'm starting to panic. Has anyone else experienced a delay with their PEUC extension kicking in?

same thing happened 2 me, took almost 3 weeks for mine to switch over... DEO is always slow with everything, nothing new

3 weeks?! I can't wait that long! Did you have to call them or did it eventually just update on its own?

THE SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY BROKEN!!! I went through this exact same nightmare back in January. My PEUC took 25 DAYS to switch over despite them claiming it would be 'automatic'. I called every single day and got nothing but disconnects and busy signals. They are DELIBERATELY making this difficult so people give up. When I finally got through, the agent said there was a 'flag' on my account that needed to be removed manually. ALWAYS CALL - don't trust their system to do ANYTHING right!!!

While I understand your frustration, not all accounts have issues. The DEO system typically processes PEUC extensions within 1-2 weeks. If it takes longer, there might be a specific issue with your claim that needs addressing. For anyone experiencing delays beyond two weeks, I recommend reaching out to your state representative's office as they can often help expedite the process. Also make sure you completed all the questions correctly on the PEUC application - a single error can cause delays.

Just to clear up some confusion - PEUC isn't available anymore in 2025. The program you're likely referring to is the standard Reemployment Assistance extension that kicks in when you exhaust regular benefits. The processing time varies from 5-14 business days typically. Make sure you've completed all your work search requirements (5 per week in Florida) and that your identity is fully verified through ID.me. If your status doesn't change after 10 business days, then it's definitely time to contact DEO directly.

Oh! I didn't realize PEUC wasn't a thing anymore. Is the RA extension automatic or do I still need to apply for it separately? I definitely completed my 5 work searches each week and my ID.me verification is all set.

When this happend to me i called DEO for like 3 days straight never got through then my neighbor told me about Claimyr. It got me through to an agent in like 20 mins and they fixed everything on the spot! The lady said my account had a pending adjudication that was preventing the extension from processing. Check out their video to see how it works https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj or go to claimyr.com. Worth it to get this fixed before rent is due!

It's totally legit! They just call DEO for you and connect you with an agent. Saved me hours of frustration and busy signals.

I'm going thru the same exact thing right now!!! Been 9 days since I applied for the extension and still showing exhausted. I'm so stressed I can't sleep. Did u ever get yours fixed?? I have 3 kids and bills due next week. This is my first time on unemployment and everything is so confusing. Does anyone know if we still get paid during the waiting period?????

Unfortunately, you won't receive payments during the processing period. However, you'll get backpay for any eligible weeks once the extension is approved. Keep claiming your weeks on your regular schedule even though it shows exhausted - this is very important! If you don't claim weeks during this period, you may not receive backpay for them later.

Here's what's likely happening: When you apply for the standard extension after exhausting regular benefits, the system typically takes 7-10 business days to process it. During this time, your account will continue to show as exhausted. This is normal. However, if it's been more than 10 business days, there might be an issue requiring attention. Possible causes for delay include: 1. Incomplete work search records 2. Identity verification flags 3. Income verification pending 4. Adjudication issues from previous weeks Make sure you continue claiming weeks even while showing exhausted status. When your extension is approved, you'll receive backpay for all eligible weeks. If you're approaching the two-week mark with no changes, I'd recommend contacting DEO directly.

Thanks for this detailed explanation! It's been 7 business days so far, so maybe I just need to be a bit more patient. I'll give it until the end of this week and then try contacting them if nothing changes. It's just so stressful when you're counting on that money for bills.

Quick update based on recent changes - just last month, the DEO implemented a new processing system for extensions that's been causing some unusual delays. The current average processing time has increased to about 12 business days according to what agents are telling claimants. If you're approaching that timeframe, I'd recommend checking your CONNECT inbox for any requests for additional information. Sometimes they send these without any notification and your extension won't process until you respond.

UPDATE: My extension finally processed! It took exactly 9 business days but this morning when I logged in, my account now shows active with the extended benefits. For anyone else waiting - check your CONNECT inbox daily for any requests (I had one asking me to verify my last employment date), keep claiming weeks even while exhausted, and make sure you're doing all 5 work searches. Thanks for everyone's help and advice!
