DEO payment delays since Hurricane Milton - certifications submitted but no direct deposit

Hey everyone, getting pretty stressed here. I submitted my biweekly claim certifications on Monday (10/14) and now it's Friday with ZERO money in my account. I've checked CONNECT and it shows 'processed' status but nothing has hit my bank account yet. Usually takes 1-2 days max. Anyone else experiencing payment delays after Hurricane Milton? Is DEO backed up because of the storm? I've tried calling about 20 times today and just get automated messages or disconnected. Really counting on this payment for rent next week... starting to panic a bit. Any insights appreciated!

Same exact thing happening to me!! Certified on Monday and still nothing. When I check CONNECT it says 'processed - payment issued' but no $$$ in my account. Normally hits by Wednesday latest. SO frustrating we can't even talk to a human being about our money!!

Good to know I'm not alone at least. Have you tried calling the bank to see if there's a pending deposit? I called mine and they don't see anything coming through yet.

For what its worth i certified sunday night and got paid thursday morning, so about a day later than usual. its probably storm related with all the DEO offices in tallahassee dealing with power outages and stuff

That gives me some hope! Maybe I'll get it tomorrow or Monday then. Did your CONNECT account show 'payment issued' for a while before you actually got the money?

This is definitely hurricane-related. DEO has been impacted by Milton just like other state agencies. There was an announcement on the CONNECT homepage last week warning about possible payment delays due to the hurricane. Generally when it shows 'processed - payment issued' in your account, the money has been released on their end and it's just working through the banking system, which can take 2-3 business days longer than usual during disaster situations. I recommend checking your payment status in CONNECT under the 'View and Maintain Account Information' section, then 'Payment History.' If it shows the payment was issued, you shouldn't worry too much yet - give it until early next week. If nothing hits by Tuesday, then you might have a real problem that needs addressing.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I checked the payment history and it does show 'issued' with the correct amount, so that's reassuring. I guess I'll try to be patient until Tuesday, but it's hard when bills are due!

After trying to call DEO for three days about a similar issue last month, I finally got through using Claimyr. It's a service that connects you directly to a DEO agent without the endless waiting and disconnections. Cost me a bit but was worth it to actually speak to someone who confirmed my payment was processing and gave me a timeframe. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The DEO agent I spoke with explained they've been having system delays because of hurricane recovery efforts, but payments are still being processed - just taking 2-3 days longer than usual.

It worked for me! Got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of trying for days. The agent was actually really helpful and looked up my specific claim.

There's definitely a system-wide delay happening right now. I worked at DEO until last year, and hurricane impacts cause significant backlogs. Here's what's likely happening: 1. Your payment IS approved (that's what "processed - payment issued" means) 2. The batch file that DEO sends to the Treasury for ACH transfers is likely delayed 3. Once Treasury receives it, normal bank processing time applies (1-2 business days) The fact that your CONNECT account shows the payment as issued is actually good news. I'd say if you haven't received it by Tuesday or Wednesday next week, then start escalating the issue. But I'm 99% certain this is just hurricane-related processing delays affecting the entire system. Also, remember that Monday (10/14) was technically a bank holiday (Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day), which may have added another day to the processing time since banks were closed.

Wow, I completely forgot Monday was a bank holiday! That plus the hurricane delays explains a lot. Thank you for breaking down the process - this makes me feel much better. I'll wait until Wednesday before panicking.

JUST GOT MINE TOO!! What a relief. Thanks everyone for the help and letting me know I wasn't alone in this situation. Seems like it was just the combination of the bank holiday plus hurricane delays.

The SAME EXACT thing happened after Irma back in 2018!!! The DEO is ALWAYS using "storms" as excuses for their horrible service!!! I bet the real reason is they don't have enough staff because they pay terrible wages AND treat their employees like garbage. My cousin worked there and quit after 3 months because management was toxic. They ALWAYS blame "technical difficulties" when really its MISMANAGEMENT!!! And WE suffer!! 😡

While there are certainly management issues at DEO, Milton was a Category 3 hurricane that directly impacted Tallahassee where many DEO operations are based. Many state employees were evacuated and some office buildings had power issues. I think in this case, the storm explanation is legitimate - especially since payments are still being processed, just with delays.

my friend works for a bank and she said they've been having issues with all kinds of government direct deposits this week not just unemployment so its probly bigger than just DEO

FINAL UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my deposit finally came through Saturday morning. Looks like it was a combination of the Monday bank holiday + hurricane delays. Thanks for helping me stay calm during the wait! Hope everyone else got their payments too.

Glad to hear it worked out! For future reference, after major hurricanes, it's always good to anticipate 1-3 day delays in state services, including benefit payments. The system generally catches up within a week.
