DEO CONNECT backdating success story - state payments received, waiting on federal

Just wanted to share my experience with getting my claim backdated with DEO! After being denied benefits initially because CONNECT kept giving me errors during the application process, I finally got through a backdating request about 2 weeks ago. Logged into my account this morning and saw they've processed all 5 weeks of state payments they owed me (about $1,100 total)! The status changed from 'pending' to 'processed' overnight. Now I'm just waiting to see when the federal enhancement portion hits my account. Has anyone recently received their federal payments after getting state payments? How long did it take? My benefit year began January 15th and I've been stressed about bills piling up while waiting for this to process. At least now I can breathe a little easier knowing the state portion is coming!

Congratulations! That's fantastic news. It's always good to hear success stories with the DEO system. For the federal portion, in my experience it typically takes 2-3 business days after the state payment shows as processed. The federal and state systems don't sync immediately. Keep checking your Way2Go card or direct deposit account (whichever payment method you selected). The federal enhancement should come through as a separate deposit, usually labeled differently than your regular state benefits.

Thank you! That's really helpful. I chose direct deposit so I'll keep monitoring my bank account. Do they usually come in a single lump sum for all back weeks or week by week like the state portion?

my brother waited like 10 days for federal after state hit his acct. DEO is always slow with everything lol. congrats tho!!

10 days?! Ugh, that's longer than I hoped. Thanks for the info though - helps to set my expectations realistically.

OMG I've been trying to get my claim backdated for THREE MONTHS!!! What exactly did you do to make them finally fix it?? I've called like 50 times and nobody ever helps me. They just say "your request is in the system" but nothing ever happens and I'm about to get EVICTED if I don't get my money soon!!! Did you talk to a specific person or department??? PLEASE help!!!

Not OP, but I can tell you backdating requests are actually handled by a special team at DEO, not the regular agents. You need to specifically request that your case be escalated to the "backdating team" when you call. Also, have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an agent faster? I was in a similar position and used their service at claimyr.com - they got me connected to a real person at DEO in about 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj that shows how it works. The agent I spoke with immediately escalated my case to the right department.

The payment timing depends on your specific claim situation. Here's what you need to know: 1. Federal payments typically arrive 2-5 business days after state payments post 2. The federal portion SHOULD arrive as a lump sum for all backdated weeks 3. You can verify upcoming payments in CONNECT under "View and Maintain Account Information" then "Payment History" 4. Federal payments will show as a separate line item labeled "FPUC" in your payment history If you don't see the federal payment pending in your account within 7 business days, you should contact DEO again. Sometimes there's a system flag that needs to be manually cleared by a claims examiner before federal payments can process.

This is really detailed, thank you! I'll check the payment history section. Didn't know about that specific path to find it. I'll give it 7 business days before I start worrying.

Glad it worked out for you! I'm still stuck in adjudication hell going on 9 weeks now. Can't get anyone on the phone either.

Adjudication is THE WORST. I was stuck there for 11 weeks last year and ended up having to contact my state representative to get movement. Call your local state rep's office and ask for help with your unemployment claim - they have special contacts at DEO who can push things through faster. Seriously saved my butt when I was about to lose my apartment.

Are you sure you're eligible for federal enhancement? They ended most of those programs. What type of claim do you have? Regular UC or some other program? The federal enhancement isn't automatic for all claim types anymore.

I have regular UC but my DEO agent specifically told me I qualified for the federal portion because of my industry sector (hospitality). They said something about a targeted federal enhancement program for certain industries that were hit harder economically. Now I'm worried though - maybe I misunderstood what they meant?

You're likely referring to the Industry-Specific Relief Program (ISRP) that was implemented in early 2025. It does provide an additional $175 weekly benefit for claimants from qualifying industries including hospitality, tourism, and event planning. This isn't the same as the older FPUC program from the pandemic era, but it is a legitimate federal enhancement. Check your Monetary Determination letter in CONNECT - it should specifically mention ISRP eligibility if you qualify.

ANYONE ELSE GET THEIR ACCOUNT LOCKED RIGHT AFTER GETTING PAYMENTS?? I finally got paid last month and then 2 days later my account was locked for "verification" and I'm STILL locked out! This system is DESIGNED to frustrate people into giving up!!

0 coins

That happened to me too. It's because the system automatically flags accounts with backdating adjustments for fraud review. You need to complete another ID.me verification. Go to the DEO homepage, click on the ID.me link (don't try to log into CONNECT first), and run through the verification process again. It'll unlock within 48 hours usually.

Just to follow up on my earlier comment - make sure you're still claiming weeks while waiting for the federal portion to arrive. Some people think they don't need to claim weeks after getting approved for backdating, but you absolutely do need to continue claiming on schedule or you'll miss out on future payments. Log in every two weeks and complete your work search requirements!

Oh that's a good reminder! I wasn't sure if I needed to keep claiming since I'm employed now (just started a new job last week). My claim is just for those 5 weeks when I was laid off. Should I still log in and report that I'm working now?

0 coins

Yes, definitely log in and report that you've returned to work! You need to officially close your claim by reporting your employment status. If you don't, the system might continue considering you as unemployed, which could potentially create an overpayment situation later. Go to the "Change/Update Contact Information" section and there should be an option to report return to work. This properly closes your claim in the system.
