Appeal hearing reversed on 10/9 - how long for DEO payment to arrive?

Hey everyone, I just had my appeal hearing on 10/9 and the decision was REVERSED in my favor (thank god after fighting this for weeks)! The judge said I was eligible for benefits after all. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for DEO to actually process the payment now? My CONNECT account still shows everything as 'disqualified' and I'm getting anxious since rent is coming up. Will they automatically update everything or do I need to call them? And will I get all the back weeks at once or in separate payments?

congrats on winning! mine took about 12 days to show up after my hearing

Thanks! That gives me some hope. Did your CONNECT account update before the payment came through or did it all happen at once?

I'd call them ASAP!!! Don't assume anything will happen automatically with DEO, they take FOREVER to process stuff unless you keep calling. My appeal reversal took 6 weeks to get paid and I had to call like 20 times. Their system is broken and understaffed and they'll just let you sit there waiting if you don't bug them.

This is good advice. DEO sometimes needs a nudge to process appeal reversals. Their system doesn't always update automatically after hearings. I'd recommend calling early in the morning (right when they open) for the best chance of getting through.

When my appeal was reversed in August, it took exactly 3 weeks for the payment to hit my account. Here's what happened in my case: 1. Week 1: CONNECT still showed "disqualified" but the appeal status changed to "complete" 2. Week 2: Status changed to "eligible" but payment still showed as "pending" 3. Week 3: Payment processed for all back weeks at once I did have to call once during week 2 because something was stuck. The rep told me they have to manually review each reversed decision, which can take 10-21 business days depending on current workload. You should see the status change in CONNECT before any money arrives.

Thank you for breaking it down like this! That's super helpful. Did you have to claim your weeks again after the reversal, or did they just process everything automatically since you'd already claimed them before?

You don't need to reclaim weeks you already claimed before the disqualification. However, if there are ANY weeks you didn't claim during the appeal process, you should claim those immediately. The system should automatically process payment for previously claimed weeks once they update your eligibility status.

I've been through this exact situation and waiting for DEO to process your appeal decision can be incredibly frustrating. Their backlog is even worse in 2025 than previous years. If you don't see any movement in your CONNECT account within 7-10 business days, I'd strongly recommend using Claimyr to get through to a DEO agent by phone. Regular calling almost never works anymore - I tried for days with no luck. With Claimyr (claimyr.com), they get you through to a live agent who can check the status of your appeal implementation and often push it through if it's stuck in the system. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj After I used their service, I got through to someone who manually updated my claim status from disqualified to eligible, and I received all my back payments about 3 days later. Just saved weeks of waiting.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give DEO a week to process things naturally first, but good to know there's a backup option if I can't reach them. The worst part is just the uncertainty of not knowing when money will come through.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but my cousin's appeal was reversed in September and it's been almost 5 weeks with still no payment. DEO is claiming they have a "system issue" affecting appeal reversals that they're "working on." So don't count on that money coming quickly. Always have a backup plan with these people.

THIS!!! 👆 They always blame "system issues" but really they just don't want to pay people. It's all a stalling tactic. KEEP CALLING THEM until they fix it!!

I work for a legal aid organization that assists with unemployment appeals, so I can give you some accurate information. After a hearing officer rules in your favor, the decision is transmitted to DEO within 2-3 business days. Once DEO receives the decision, they typically take 7-21 business days to implement the decision and process payments. The issues that can cause delays are: 1. The appeals decision hasn't been properly uploaded to your file 2. The payments require manual review due to the amount or duration 3. There are other pending issues on your claim unrelated to what was appealed 4. You have weeks that need to be claimed I recommend waiting 10 business days from your hearing date. If nothing changes in your CONNECT account by then, call DEO and specifically ask to speak with someone in the "Appeals Implementation Unit." Regular representatives often can't help with appeals processing. Your payment will likely come all at once for all eligible back weeks. Make sure your banking information is up to date in the system.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll check if there are any other pending issues on my claim. My disqualification was for alleged "voluntary quit" which is what the appeal reversed, but I'll make sure nothing else is holding things up. I'll give it 10 business days and then try to reach the Appeals Implementation Unit specifically.

whats the appeals implementation unit?? never heard of that before

It's an internal department at DEO that specifically handles updating claims after appeal decisions. Regular claim representatives don't always have access to implement appeal decisions in the system. When you call, you need to specifically ask for someone who can help with implementing an appeal decision. The exact name might vary, but asking for "appeals implementation" or "appeals processing" will usually get you to the right team.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that my CONNECT account finally updated today (10/16). Status changed from "disqualified" to "eligible" for all my back weeks! Still no payment yet, but at least I can see progress happening. Will update again when the money actually comes through. Thanks everyone for your help!

Great news! The payment usually follows within 2-3 business days after the status changes to eligible. You're on the right track!

That's awesome that your status updated! You're definitely getting close now. In my experience, once CONNECT shows "eligible" the payment usually hits within 3-5 business days. Keep an eye on your bank account over the next few days. And don't worry if it seems like a lot of money all at once - that's normal when they pay all the back weeks together. Congrats on sticking with the appeal process, it's such a relief when it finally works out!

Thanks for the encouragement! It's definitely been a stressful journey but seeing that status change gives me so much hope. I'm checking my bank account obsessively now haha. Can't wait to finally get caught up on bills. Really appreciate everyone's advice and support throughout this whole process - this community has been a lifesaver!

Congrats on getting the reversal! I went through this same situation last year and it's such a relief when the judge finally sees the truth. From my experience, DEO typically takes 2-3 weeks to process appeal reversals, but it can vary wildly depending on their current backlog. My advice would be to give it about 10 business days, then start calling if you don't see any movement in your CONNECT account. The key is to be persistent but patient - I know it's hard when rent is due! Also make sure to screenshot everything showing your current status in case there are any issues later. The good news is that once they do process it, you should get all your back weeks in one lump sum. Hang in there, you're almost at the finish line!

Thanks Santiago! Really appreciate the timeline and advice. I'm definitely going to screenshot everything like you suggested - that's a smart move I hadn't thought of. It's reassuring to hear from someone who went through the exact same process. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, especially with bills piling up, but knowing there's light at the end of the tunnel helps a lot. Did you have to do anything special to get the lump sum payment, or did it just automatically process all the back weeks once they updated your status?
