DCF application still pending after weeks - no response. What to do?
I applied for benefits and uploaded all my documents weeks ago, but my application is still pending. I haven't heard anything back from DCF. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do next? I'm getting worried because I really need these benefits.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. It's been over a month for me and still nothing. The system is so broken 😤

•A month? That's nothing. I've been waiting for 3 months now. It's ridiculous!

•Have you guys tried calling? Sometimes that helps speed things up.

•Calling? LOL good luck getting through. I've tried like 50 times 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/l12GzjIVIHU

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? That's steep when ur already struggling 😬

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Beats wasting days trying to get through.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Double-check all your documents are correct and readable 2. Send a follow-up email to DCF explaining your situation 3. If possible, visit a local office in person 4. Keep calling daily (I know it sucks, but persistence pays off) 5. Check your spam folder regularly for any missed communications Stay patient and don't give up. The system is overwhelmed, but they'll get to your application eventually. Good luck!

I heard theres a huge backlog bc of budget cuts. Might be why its taking so long for everyone 😕

•Yeah, I read an article about that. They laid off a bunch of staff last year. 🤦♂️

Pro tip: if you can get ahold of someone, ask them to put a note on your account. It might help speed things up a bit.

•This! 💯 It worked for me. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

•I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my rep is?

•Just google '[your city] state representative'. They usually have a constituent services office that can help with stuff like this.

OP, did you get a confirmation text or email when you uploaded your docs? If not, they might not have gone through properly.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a glitch in there system and my SSN was entered wrong. Took forever to fix. Maybe check if all ur info is correct?

guys, we should all band together and protest at the DCF office. This is getting ridiculous! Who's with me? ✊

I'm going through the exact same thing right now - applied 6 weeks ago and still nothing! It's so frustrating when you're depending on these benefits. I've been checking my online account daily but the status never changes. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and tips, it helps to know I'm not alone in this struggle. Going to try calling again tomorrow and maybe visit the local office if I can get time off work.

•6 weeks is way too long! I'm dealing with the same thing - applied almost 2 months ago and still waiting. The whole system seems broken. Definitely try the local office if you can, I've heard that sometimes helps move things along faster than just calling. We shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops just to get basic help when we need it most. Hang in there! 💪

This is exactly what happened to me too! Applied 8 weeks ago and crickets from DCF. What finally worked for me was going to the local office first thing in the morning when they open - I got there at 7:30am and was one of the first people in line. The caseworker was able to pull up my application and found that it was missing just one document that somehow didn't upload properly, even though I thought I had submitted everything. Got it sorted that same day and approved within a week after that. Sometimes the online system glitches and doesn't show what's actually missing. Definitely worth the early morning trip if you can swing it!

•This is super helpful advice! I never thought about documents not uploading properly even when it looks like they did. Going to the office at 7:30am sounds rough but honestly at this point I'm willing to try anything. Did you have to bring physical copies of all your documents with you, or were they able to fix the upload issue right there? Thanks for sharing what worked - gives me hope that there might actually be a simple fix to this mess! 🙏

I'm in a similar situation - submitted my application 5 weeks ago with all required documents and haven't heard anything back. It's really stressful not knowing what's happening, especially when you're counting on these benefits. Reading through all these comments is both reassuring (I'm not alone) and concerning (this seems to be a widespread issue). I'm going to try the early morning office visit approach that @Amun-Ra Azra mentioned - sounds like that might be the most effective way to actually get answers. Has anyone had luck with the online chat feature, or is calling/visiting in person the only way to get real help?

•Hey @Yuki Watanabe, I tried the online chat a few times and it was pretty much useless - just generic responses telling me to wait or check my account status. The chat agents don't seem to have access to actually look at your application details like the in-person staff do. Based on what I've read here, going to the office early seems to be the way to go. I'm planning to try that this week too since I'm in week 4 of waiting myself. Good luck with your visit!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now - submitted my application over a month ago and it's been radio silence from DCF. It's so stressful when you're already struggling financially and then have to deal with this broken system on top of it. Reading everyone's experiences here has been really helpful though. I think I'm going to try the early morning office visit strategy that several people mentioned, since it sounds like that's been the most successful approach. Has anyone tried reaching out to multiple offices or does it have to be your assigned local one? Really hoping we all get our situations resolved soon! 🤞

•@Javier Hernandez I m'pretty sure you have to go to your assigned local office - they re'the ones with access to your specific case file. I tried calling a different office once and they told me they couldn t'help since my application was tied to my local district. But honestly at this point it might be worth calling around just to see if any office can at least give you some general info about what might be causing the delays. The whole system is such a mess right now with the staffing issues everyone s'been talking about. Hope the early morning visit works for you - seems like that s'our best bet! 🤞

This thread is so helpful! I'm dealing with the same nightmare - applied 7 weeks ago and my status still shows "pending review." It's incredibly frustrating when you're already in a tough spot financially and then have to navigate this broken system. I've tried calling dozens of times but can never get through. The early morning office visit strategy sounds promising - definitely going to try that next week. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access basic assistance programs. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, at least now I know I'm not going crazy and this really is a widespread problem with DCF right now! 😤

•@Giovanni Conti I totally feel your frustration! 7 weeks is absolutely ridiculous - you shouldn t'have to wait that long for basic help. I m'also planning to try that early morning office visit approach since so many people here have had success with it. It s'crazy that we all have to become detectives just to figure out what s'wrong with our applications! Maybe we should all coordinate and hit up our local offices on the same day - strength in numbers, right? 😅 But seriously, this whole situation is just highlighting how broken the system is. Hang in there, hopefully the in-person visit will get you some real answers!

I'm in the exact same situation - submitted my application 6 weeks ago and still stuck in "pending" status! It's so frustrating when you really need the help and the system just leaves you hanging with no communication. I've been checking my online account obsessively but nothing ever changes. Reading through all these comments is both comforting (knowing I'm not alone) and infuriating (seeing how widespread this problem is). I think I'm going to try that early morning office visit strategy that @Amun-Ra Azra mentioned - seems like that's been the most successful approach for actually getting real answers. Has anyone had any luck with faxing documents directly to their caseworker instead of uploading online? Just trying to exhaust all options at this point! 🤞

•@Aisha Jackson I haven t'tried faxing directly to a caseworker yet, but that s'actually a really good idea! I m'also stuck in that same pending "limbo" for 5+ weeks now. It s'maddening how the online system just sits there with no updates or communication whatsoever. I m'definitely planning to try the early morning office visit approach too - seems like multiple people have had breakthrough moments that way. Maybe bring both digital copies AND physical documents just to cover all bases? This whole experience has been such an eye-opener about how broken the system really is. We re'all just trying to get basic help and instead we re'playing detective trying to figure out what went wrong! 😩

I'm going through this exact same thing right now - submitted my application almost 2 months ago and still nothing! It's so disheartening when you're already struggling and then have to deal with this broken system. I've tried calling multiple times but can never get through, and the online status just sits there saying "under review" with no updates. Reading all these comments has been really eye-opening - it seems like this is a massive systemic issue affecting tons of people. I'm definitely going to try that early morning office visit strategy that several people mentioned, especially @Amun-Ra Azra's approach of getting there right when they open. It's ridiculous that we have to become detectives and jump through all these hoops just to access basic assistance programs we're entitled to. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and tips - at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess! 🙏

•@Sofia Hernandez I m'right there with you - 2 months is absolutely unacceptable! I just joined this community because I m'dealing with the same nightmare. Applied 5 weeks ago and my status hasn t'budged from pending "despite" uploading everything they asked for. It s'so frustrating to see how many people are going through this exact same thing - clearly DCF has some serious systemic issues right now. I m'definitely going to try that early morning office visit approach too since it seems to be the only thing that actually works. It s'crazy that we have to take time off work and camp out at their offices just to get basic information about our own applications! Thanks for sharing your story, it helps to know we re'all in this together even though the situation totally sucks. Hopefully we ll'all get some answers soon! 💪

I'm dealing with this exact same issue! Applied 4 weeks ago and my status is just stuck on "pending" with zero communication from DCF. It's so stressful when you're already struggling financially and then have to play guessing games with a broken system. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been really helpful though - at least I know it's not just me! I'm definitely going to try that early morning office visit strategy that @Amun-Ra Azra mentioned since it sounds like that's been the most successful approach for actually getting answers. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to take time off work and camp out at their offices just to find out what's happening with our own applications, but if that's what it takes then I guess that's what we have to do. •@Andre Laurent I m'so sorry you re'going through this too! It s'honestly shocking how broken this system is right now. I just joined this community because I m'in week 3 of waiting myself and was starting to panic that something was wrong with my application. Seeing all these similar stories is both reassuring and terrifying at the same time. The fact that @Amun-Ra Azra found out their document didn t actually'upload properly even though it looked like it did is really eye-opening - makes me wonder how many of us are dealing with technical glitches we don t even'know about. I m definitely'going to try that early morning office visit approach too. It s absolutely'insane that we have to resort to camping out at government offices just to get basic information about our own cases, but hey, whatever works at this point! Thanks for adding your voice to this thread - the more people who speak up about these issues, the better chance we have of getting some real change. Hang in there! 💪
